“Since doing the CMS AD course in 2022, I have found consistent work within the AD Department, and still use the advice given on the course daily. “I had just finished two years of studying Special Effects and felt that the Costume, Makeup and Special Effects course at CMS was a good natural progression. Being taught by industry professionals really helped to build my confidence and allowed me to ask questions that I wasn't able to ask my previous tutors.

All the staff at CMS were lovely and had a ton of tips to help find ways to apply for jobs in the industry. Since graduating last June, I have been very lucky to work on 3 short films as a Makeup and Special Effects artist. Not bad for a 35 year old who sent herself back to college.”

🎬 Exploring Unique Roles in Film & TV: Did you know about armoury? It involves managing all the prop weapons used in productions like Game of Thrones, The Gentlemen, and Avengers.

🌟 Meet Sam Segal, a UAL Art Department graduate from this year, who discovered his niche in an unexpected field:

“The course had not only been fantastic for building the skills needed in the art department but also opened doors by connecting me with key industry contacts.

I joined a director’s stunt session and met Peter, a tutor who gave me two armourers phone numbers, one asked me to come and have a chat and this led to me getting some paid on-set experience within armoury and sfx. They've continued to train me and even offered further skill development.

I now have a freelance job with them and couldn't be happier and more excited about my future! The course had given me skills but also a network.”

We recently hosted an incredible workshop for Year 12 students from Mulberry Academy Trust UTC in Tower Hamlets diving deep into the world of filmmaking. The students got a firsthand look at what it takes to work at the top levels of film and high-end TV in the UK 🌟
