We are absolutely delighted to be hosting some incredible events with Norwich Book Festival at the Millennium Library. And this one is for all young explorers: it’s time to take a quest to the Arctic!
Author illustrator Chloe Savage will read from her stunning story, and lead a workshop for little creatives: so they can create their own creatures and characters.
This beautiful picture book brings science to life as it follows Dr Morley’s lifelong dream of finding the mysterious giant Artic jellyfish. Nobody has ever found it before – but will Dr Morley and her team find this incredible creature?
In this specially designed workshop, Chloe will invite children to explore their own imagination and develop their drawing skills.

By the time of his early death in 1988, Raymond Carver had established himself as one of the great practitioners of the American short story, a writer who had not only found his own voice but imprinted it in the imaginations of thousands of readers. 'Where I’m Calling From', his last collection, includes seven new works previously unpublished in book form, capturing the essence of human experience with unparalleled depth and simplicity.
Way back when! I’ve been to Ellen Terry’s house in Kent - it is definitely worth a visit.

Good lady - a bit of honesty in a space that’s very big on fake authenticity. What a shame eh?! Nothing like an ‘over share’ I think!

Late Bloomer show 196. Great crowd in Cambridge tonight. Thanks for coming if you did. My ace support was Lou Conran (own show in Dec. Ticket link in comments). Mugs etc are via the shop page of my website and my podcast is Standard Issue Magazine (available on Spotify and all the usual places). Thanks for donating to Samaritans too.

It’s me backstage at the venue with wavy hair, red lipstick and an autumnal leafy Zuri dress. On the right, smiling in a mirror, is lovely Lou.

Tomorrow Wed 19 June 9.00am. Join London CAAT, CAAT and Netpol outside the "Counter Terror" Expo at ExCeL in London (DLR: Custom House). We will be saying no the rise of surveillance powers and to Prevent, which criminalises marginalised communities. Surveillance; Prevent; genocide in Palestine: none of these make us safer. More info in the link.
“A berm overlooking a pond in Vermont. The lip of the Grand Canyon at sunset. A seat on the subway. And something bad will have happened: You will have lost someone you loved, or failed at something at which you badly wanted to succeed. And sitting there, you will fall into the center of yourself. You will look for some core to sustain you. And if you have been perfect all your life and have managed to meet all the expectations of your family, your friends, your community, your society, chances are excellent that there will be a black hole where that core ought to be. I don’t want anyone I know to take that terrible chance. And the only way to avoid it is to listen to that small voice inside you that tells you to make mischief, to have fun, to be contrarian, to go another way. George Eliot wrote, ‘It is never too late to be what you might have been.’ It is never too early, either.”

Proven Creative Tutor of English and Creative Writing, Published Author.
I am a qualified teacher and worked in a large successful secondary school in East London over some years. More recently I am an experienced tutor and was published as an author (of fiction) for the first time at the end of 2016. We operate according to a sliding scale, low cost, rates negotiable, pay 'what you can afford' fees policy.
Our sessions are accessible to all.
We are now establishing a writing group which will meet every two weeks on Friday mornings at Mendham Hall, Mendham, which is on the corner of the Street, Mendham and Withersdale Road.
From the Creative Writing departments of UEA and Goldsmiths University our pedigree is impeccable. We are planning a creative approach to fit in with your needs as a writer. We look forward to sharing work for comment and improvement. We will be looking at all types of writing, both fiction and non-fiction, from memoir writing (currently in vogue), to the classic but infuriatingly difficult to get right short story (Raymond Carver any body?!) as well as the ‘no holds barred’ longer work for the more ambitious. Please tell me you have read Moby Dick (I haven’t)!
Just for your information, as a freelance, I have a 20 mile travel policy, a PGCE qualification as well as Qualified Teacher Status, am in possession of a full enhanced DBS Check + Public Liability Insurance (through Simply Business)...I also offer English (IB and GCSE) as well as Advanced Level, UCAS preparation, Degree level and beyond...I can advise on routes to publication and provide marketing support...as well as what they now euphemistically call progression via ‘non-standard routes’...that’s being an individual to a ‘normal person’ not in ‘Education Management’. :)
I also possess a London College of Communication Honours Degree in Film and Video (2:1) as well as a Goldsmiths (University of London) Masters Degree in Cultural Studies...
