Happy International Women's Day

As a mum and a daughter, I celebrate all women this month. I've been silent on social media for a while whilst I recover from an operation but it's given me the chance to really reflect on what I really want to do in my business and re-align. The answer came clear and that was to use my creativity to help more women owned or led businesses especially in tech, culture and health. This I believe is my why in life. Growing up I don't remember seeing a lot of women in the media that I connected with and as my daughter grows I realise there is a need for me to do this. When you increase visibility you inspire others to be seen and heard too and that's what I want to do. Use video to help women led companies so that young ladies see them and feel a spark within themselves. To do that I must be heard and seen myself.

More videos to come and joy of sharing myself and my work with you but for now Happy International Women's Day. Here's a video from International Women's Day a few years ago.

Here’s a pretty amazing fact: people retain 95% of a message when they watch it on video compared to 10% when they read it as text. No wonder video has quickly become THE go-to medium for B2B marketers who want to connect with customers, build pipeline, and better engage audiences.

According to Forbes - In 2022 video is where we all need to be.

Forbes Agency Council say when it comes to using video content for social media channels, it’s essential to focus on these main areas:

1. What information you can provide your audience, humour and the human side of your brand. Short, humorous clips have always done well in the realm of social media; meanwhile, we have seen more and more that consumers are looking for transparency, engagement and personality from the brands they follow on social media.

2. Educational content can help your brand’s reputation as a reliable source of knowledge in your area of expertise. Video content provides you with the best way to bring this to your audience, as it gives you a wide array of options for how you can do so.

A big video marketing trend rushing to us in 2022 is shoppable videos. They allow consumers to buy products right on the spot. These videos include a button leading viewers to a store where they can easily complete a purchase. Shoppable videos are mostly used on social media, becoming one of the biggest marketplaces on the web.

As we start a new year lets look at some video stats:

In 2021 92% of marketers placed video at the heart of their marketing strategy which was an increase from 78% back in 2015.

Why? The answer is simple: time. Video glues eyes to screens, significantly increasing your ROI. At least, according to 88% of marketers. For instance, in 2021, it is estimated that the average person watched 100 minutes of online videos per day, increasing from 84 minutes in 2019. That’s a 19% jump!

As customers and clients are about to pack up and go away over the holidays now is the time to connect and thank them for their support, as well as leave them with some festive vibes!

First, here’s what you should NOT do with your company holiday video - hard sell – that simple. Instead, share stories, add value - or just have fun!

You could include exciting things that have happened during the year, or maybe you want to thank your clients. Why not feature your employees and their achievements or give a tutorial with a festive twist?

The Red Cactus Christmas video will be making an appearance soon so keep your eyes peeled!

WHEN WAS FILM INVENTED?

Motion pictures date all the way back to the 1890s when the first moving picture cameras were invented. However, the very first moving picture – The Roundhay Garden Scene – was actually a product of the 1880s. In 1888, French inventor Louis Le Prince filmed his family prancing around in a circle in a whopping two second clip. While that seems insignificant now, it’s innovation is what would eventually lead to commercialised cameras and motion pictures.

What is 3 point lighting?

3 point lighting is a cinematography technique that uses three different light sources placed at various distances and angles around a subject to properly light them for the screen. Each light source serves a different purpose in casting and correcting shadows on your subject. The three light sources are:

💡Key light: This primary light makes up about 3/4 of the light on a subject.
💡Fill light: This secondary light is meant to fill the remaining unlit space to bring out further detail of the subject.
💡Back light: Sometimes referred to as a “rim light” or “hair light,” this final light in the three-point setup is meant to define the outline of the subject to emphasize three-dimensionality.
