TREE PLANTING FOR EREWASH'S 50th ANNIVERSARY

Erewash borough is honouring their 50th anniversary and plan on commemorating the celebration by planting six trees in and around the borough.
Previous mayor and current chairman of the scrutiny, Frank Phillips, will be accompanying the tree planters as they make their way to each spot.
A lot of the plans that the council had for the anniversary had to be cut due to a lack of finance within the council. Frank Phillips explains, “we do not have a lot of money to spend on trivialities, but we did decide to go ahead with this.”
As part of the anniversary, it was decided that the council would go ahead with opening up plaques in both the town councils, including the one in Long Eaten. Alongside planting the six trees, one of which will be featured in the new nature reserve.
The council wants to plant the trees where they could be visited and frequented by people and have so far planted four of the six trees.
