At 10:45 on Erewash Sound, we feature our mystery group, but who are they? Your answer is welcome!

An English disco group, it was formed by Ray Knott and Ellie Hope who met auditioning to play in Babe Ruth. Their breakthrough came in February 1980 when ‘Dance Yourself Dizzy’ reached #2. The more rocky, less disco-based ‘Substitute’ reached #8 in May of the same year whilst their final release was less successful, although they did return to disco for ‘The Night, The Wine And The Roses’ which edged its way to #32 in November, again in 1980. 🤔📀 (Ian)

On this week's Erewash Sound as part of hour 1, statistics show that we don't get enough sleep - The Word On Health has more with Paul Pennington at 10:20am.

After that, what is the name of the early 80s British soul-funk band to feature at 10:45am? Including David Grant on lead vocals, they enjoyed 6 singles. ‘You’re Lying’ made 15 in September 1980, the most successful ‘Intuition’ reached #7 in March 1981, ‘Throw Away The Key’ was the least popular stalling at #21 in June 1981, whilst ‘So This is Romance’ rounded things off to #15 in September 1981. Subsequent hits failed to dent the Top 40. Any idea? 🤔📀 (Ian)

Good morning and wecome to another Erewash Sound with me, Ian Perry, 'til 1pm. At 10:45 this morning, we feature two tracks from a mystery band who appeared at Rock City in Nottingham on Thursday night, but who are they? Your answer is welcome by then!

An English indie rock band, their name is a play on the title of a 1908 handbook for the Baden-Powell movement. They formed in 2005 and signed to Epic Records in 2007, releasing a self-titled album in September, since selling over 1m copies. A second album ‘Everybody Wants To Be On TV’ came in 2010, preceded by the single ‘This Ain’t A Love Song’ which reached #1 on the singles chart. Other singles include ‘She’s So Lovely’, ‘Heartbeat’ and ‘Elvis Isn’t Dead’

Our mystery group on from Erewash Sound this week had just two hits, but that's enough for us! The question is, what is the name of the group? 🤔📀 Your answer is welcome by 10:45am! (Ian)

A British based pop band, both members Andy Davis and James Warren coming from 1970s band Stackridge. They are mainly known for their hit single ‘Everybody’s Got To Learn Sometime’ which made 5 in May 1980, however, prior that, ‘If I Had You’ made #13 in June 1979. Unsuccessful singles include ‘Young ‘n’ Russian’, ‘I Just Can’t Help It’, ‘If It’s Alright With You Baby’ and ‘Rovers Return’.

An American-British actor and singer, known for his role as Detective Kenneth Hutchinson in Starsky & Hutch. He became a British citizen in 2004. Whilst the TV show was ongoing, so too was his music career. ‘Don’t Give Up On Us’ made #1 in 1976, ‘Going In With My Eyes Open’ followed it to #2 in 1977, whilst other hits include ‘Silver Lady’ #1 in 1977, ‘Let’s Have A Quiet Night In’ - #8 in the same year, and ‘It Sure Brings Out The Love In Your Eyes’ - #12 in 1978.

Your answer is welcome by 10:45am. (Ian)
