Let's change the narrative around leadership:
✅ Leadership means listening, not just talking.
✅ Leadership means collaborating, not dictating.
✅ Leadership means understanding, not undermining.
True leaders inspire change, foster growth, and create a lasting impact.

2 accessible flats at Campbell Court available!

Treloar’s, apart from providing care and education to physically disabled children and young people with complex needs, also offers a range of Outreach Services to the wider disabled community, hires out campus facilities and has an independent living skills service for young disabled adults, aged 18-35 who have the potential to benefit from receiving a longer term independence skills learning / development package in a safe and supportive environment.

We believe that by investing in teaching independence skills we can enable each individual to live a more fulfilled life where they exercise choice, are more independent and ultimately can use their skills and talents to enhance the community.

Campbell Court is a community of 7 self-contained ground floor flats located adjacent to our campus. We have 2 vacancies available.

You can find more information on our website: https://www.treloar.org.uk/other-services/independent-adult-living/ or you can contact Alison Watkins, Domiciliary Care Manager at Campbell Court: [email protected].

The language of Special in the culture of education, session 1, 2, 3

•I will explain the way language guides our beliefs, and the way culture influencea thinking, practice, policy and culture;
•Help you gain an awareness of bias in of education;
•Explain the role of critical theory to aid reflection on/in/for practice;
•explain the contribution of Disability Studies to SEN, ethical thinking, leadership and policy;

As I have defined it - to talk about how our language influences beliefs and influences thinking, practice, culture and policy. I will critique the way we talk about SEN within our schools - and within education – pointing out how this impacts negatively on the learning of those labelled.

"Supported conversation is a mode of facilitation that requires a deep understanding of the subject. The onus is on the conversation leader to pick up and run with thoughts, ideas and questions as they arise. While there is a plan, the content emerges as a collaboration* - even if feedback can be somewhat minimal."

It was a pleasure to work with Thrive by Design. I was approached by the MD, Roz Davies, to guide a conversation about disability equality.  I’ve worked for 3 decades in this area, so I was delighted to take the team through their … Supported conversation Read More »

"Without a definition there is no way of articulating the characteristic discrimination the disabled population face. Giving a word to ableism, makes sure it exist! By saying ‘ableism’ we give time to voice a reality we then acknowledge fully."

TweetEmail TweetEmailAbleism in the workplace The word ‘ableism’ has gained much currency these past few years. I have noticed the hashtag increasingly being used by the disabled community across social media. However, it seems not to have reached the consciousness of some, and a mystery too ...
