Here are the two pedal setups I have at the minute.

I hope to be recording them soon!

I have one for composing film music, and the other is a bass board.

You can hear the first board in my last post.

I have my Zoia as the synth module, and this is fed into 3 pedals; the Slicer, DD-7, and RV-6.

From here we hit the Microcosm, before going into my PAN16 DI.

On a send, I have the spatial effects, the Lore, and Fable as a pair, and SLO, and ARP-87 as a pair.

The bass board begins with the Bass Wah, before hitting the MXR Bass Octave.

I have the Heavy Water to boost into my Beta.

I have my Big M**f, which I swap in and out with the Kangra, they don’t play well together however, combined with octave, boost, and overdrive, each offer some serious flavour combinations.

Next is the Miraj and I have been using this for some clean stuff with my DM-2w, which sounds lovely when tapping and using the tap temp o too.

Lastly, Compressore to add some control, and push into its tube for a little spice.

Two of my students brought in their new Xmas pedals today, a Dimebag Wah, and an EHX Hell Melter.

After patching my ears back up, I decided I wanted some filter based heavy bass business when I got home.

I picked up my Doom Stick, Big M**f, , and Mojomojo for the dirt. Couple of options here to combine for a variety of tones.

I have my Bass Wah, and Filter Twin for the filter fun. I’ll have the Wah first, and the filter twin later in the chain.

I also have my MXR octave as this will sound amazing causing some bother with the dirt.

I have also included my Kangra as its filter is amazing and I just love slamming things into it.

Speaking of which, I have my Heavy Water to boost into the Kangra. I have a feeling it will sound lovely into the vintage setting.

Now to decide on which bass to use!

Been having a blast the last couple of days with this little setup. I have most of my ambient pedals set up on the desk, I’ll post a little clip of that later.

This board is a versatile collection of pedals that suit my bass playing needs.

Firstly, we have the Compressore, a compressor that plays really nicely at the end of the chain, with the Cali76 first however, it is such a nice compressor to have at the beginning of the chain.

Next is the MXR octave which I have a nice mix of both of the octaves with the mid boost on. I couple this with the Sub n Up, which is set to the high octave only. I like to use this with the Filter Twin for chords though, both octaves and the Mojomojo on at the same time make some tasty synth like tones.

Next is the MXR bass chorus for some fancy pants modulation and lastly, the SLO for luscious reverbs as well as an incredibly short reverb, that sounds a bit like a gated reverb for some slap sounds. Very nice.

I am uaing either my Progress, Thumb, or 4003, and all three basses sound really good through this little board.

I bang on and on about these three pedals however, I really do love the combination of my Beta, Cali76 and Tone Job.

Such a versatile trio of pedals for creating my core tone regardless of which instrument I am using.

Recently I have been playing my Encore P bass, (my very first instrument), and 4003. They both have flats and I like to tickle the Beta a bit to give them some nice character.

The Thumb gets used in passive mode, and so the tone controls offer a huge range of options though, I have favoured a slight low and high boost, with a touch of mid cut, some compression, and then some octave and chorus. For one very specific song. Delicious.

And of course, my Progress has been used extensively to destroy my thumb recently as I practice double thumbing, and the compressor keeps everything in check. Well dynamics wise not my accuracy and timing.

Going to have a little experiment to get to know my gear better.

Specifically, my overdrive pedals.

I really like all of my drives though I wish some of them had a little more bass, or a little smoother too end.

I will not be comparing drives against each other, just experimenting with ways to gently reshape the frequency of the drives.

I will be using my Beta, and Mojomojo to use their circuitry to naturally add more bass and smooth the top end.

The Centavo, Plumes, BD-2, and ODB-3 will be the drives I will be re-shaping.

There’s nothing wrong with these drives, but I want to use them for bass as well, and would like more low end.

The Tone Job will be used at the end of the pedal chain, after the Beta and Mojomojo either on its own, or in conjunction with the drives.

I will then compare pedal processing, with the eqs I have on hand such as the desk eq, Qure, Eureka, Harrison, and Rooster to add eq.

I will also slap the 5059’s silk controls too.

Quite interested to see what I can get out of my drives so I can use them in multiple contexts, as well as enjoy the gear for the sake of enjoying it.
