Good afternoon, you may have spotted our team at the George Hotel today, putting up some scaffolding. You’re probably thinking ‘we thought they were done with the external works now?’ 🤔

Due to the recent high winds, we're investigating some issues that have occurred to the chimneys. These investigations and repairs should only take a few weeks and we don’t anticipate a delay to the overall project. 👍

'Not one of Kirklees' roads have been gritted', 'Be honest', 'I am being honest, the gritters have not been out', 'Be honest', 'Fine, there wasn't one when I looked out of the window just now', 'Thank you'. 😉

What a day it’s been! Our gritters were out last night, again throughout today, and are heading out again at 6pm. Not only that, we'll be keeping an eye on things overnight with our night patrol.

It's worth remembering grit can’t always stop ice forming or stop snow from covering over roads so please drive carefully. 👍

As well as some pretty tasty looking food and drink, they have a selection of local entertainment to tickle your auditory tastebuds, including;

The delightful Brad Mack Music with original songs and covers to get you tapping your toes,
Strangely familiar-looking The Lonely Hearts UK serenading you with hits from the 60s and 70s,
Fishing For Compliments, duo-edition, with their folksy, indie offerings,
and Wadcutter Blues playing the, well, blues. But like, really damn well.

Hive Huddersfield CIC has been successful in being shortlisted as a finalist for ‘Small Social Enterprise of the Year’ 💛💛💛

Being a finalist is testament to the hard work of our volunteers, staff and Board since we opened our doors in 2021; we couldn’t be prouder of receiving this acknowledgement of the hard work and commitment to ensure Hive remains a welcoming, supportive, safe and inclusive space for all as we continue to support the community of Huddersfield and Kirklees in all we do.

The ‘winning’ would be amazing but it truly is an honour to be a finalist and we wish everyone involved in the awards the best of luck.

Now all the annual festivities are done and a distant memory, many folk will be turning thoughts to planning those big events that they have coming up this year; a wedding reception, a milestone birthday, even a celebration just because you're awesome and you deserve one 😀

From Monday, work will begin on the outside of Huddersfield Railway Station as part of the Transpennine Route Upgrade.

The TRU isn’t a council project, but it’ll mean great things for our links with the rest of the north and beyond!

There will be some rerouting and changes to parking around St. George’s Square, so make sure you allow a bit of extra journey time when travelling to and from Huddersfield.
