We love this from Brolly Brewing - a great accompaniment to our Election Special Episode 😊

Our 'election selection' is out of the tank and tastes absolutely fabulous. All drinks to celebrate our differences and quench our thirst for change!

- F.O.T. - 'Left' Coast IPA. A big ol' West Coast IPA, with Most and Centennial on the Hot side, then Azacca and Chinook in the dry hop. Expect a smooth, bitter beer with pine, marmalade and a long, satisfying finish. Available in can now, and on draught by the end of the week!

- Liberale - A cheeky rebrand on our much loved Lowfold Wissy, Liberale is a quintessential Sussex bitter, smooth and too easy to drink. Available to drink on cask and it's also naturally conditioned in-can now! Yes, can-conditioned beer, a first for us!

- Greener Grass - Classic Brolly hazy pale with a twist! As well as Citra and Galaxy hops, this beer has been infused with cannabis terpenes to accentuate the hop profile, providing some earthy pine alongside the citrus and peachy fruit tones. Available to drink on draught and in can now!

There are seven candidates vying for your votes in the Horsham constituency:

Paul Abbott (Social Democratic Party)
James Field (Labour)
Jim Duggan (The Peace Party)
Hugo Miller (Reform UK)
John Milne (Liberal Democrat)
Jeremy Quin (Conservative)

Interest in our episode on foraging with James Plumb (follow him on Instagram as ) has been high - it's one of our most downloaded! - and since we met James in September 2022 for our tour around Leechpool Woods, he's been gradually learning more and more about plants and fungi that grow around Sussex and beyond.

With all this in mind, we thought we'd meet up with James again. This time, to find out about the plants growing in Horsham during spring and summer 🌼

We headed to Horsham Park on a sunny spring evening for a wild food identification and foraging foray. As you'll hear in the episode, James shows us some of the cultivated plants that can be turned into food and medicine ☘

He also warns us of the toxic plant varieties we should definitely avoid ❌

The Eurovision Song Contest takes place in Malmö, Sweden (where Anna is from!) this Saturday.

To help warm you up and give a little insight into Swedish food culture, we thought we'd re-share our episode with another Swedish Horshamite, Rene Fay, owner of the wonderful Johansson's Café Horsham who we spoke to in 2023.

Rene talks about how her dream business got off the ground and about how she's introduced fika to Horsham. If you haven't visited already, we highly recommend it. Order one of Rene's homemade cinnamon buns for a real treat 😋

So, who's planning on watching Eurovision and who do we think will win this year?

Our guest is local author Lisa Brace whose debut novel Star Survivor is due out next month 🤩

We had a great time hearing about how the idea for Lisa's novel came about (it has something to do with a dream including Simon Cowell but you'll need to listen for the full explanation 😂) her journey to getting published and her future writing plans.

Lisa very generously shared some top tips for aspiring writers too ✍

Have you listened to our latest episode (No.26) yet?

Admittedly, we were a little hesitant to cover the topic of death, but when we spoke to Jean Francis, a OneSpirit Interfaith Minister and Celebrant, we very quickly changed our minds.

Jean wants everyone to give some thought to their last wishes and challenges our approach to funerals and how we commemorate the dearly departed. She now runs workshops through Circle of Life Celebrations to help us decide how we'd like things to go when we die. She has also produced two books - Finishing Touches and Ashes & Memorials which include some lovely suggestions and provide inspiration.

You can see we were smiling after our chat so it wasn't as depressing as you might think. And, after all, as Jean says in this episode 'just talking about something doesn't mean it's going to happen'.

Death isn't the most uplifting topic to kick off 2024 we agree.....

BUT after you've listened to Jean Francis, our guest on our latest episode, you might think otherwise.

Because, while it sounds morbid, talking about how we'd like to celebrate and commemorate our lives when they end can be beneficial for us and our loved ones.

As a OneSpirit Interfaith Minister and Celebrant, Jean has led many life events and celebrations, including wedding and funerals. It is the latter that she's keen for us to give some thought to and is why she's running workshops to give guidance in this area.

We really enjoyed our chat with Jean, and were uplifted. We hope you enjoy listening to it.

Besides, as Jean points out when we met her: "Just talking about something, doesn't mean it is going to happen." 😊

Did you know 6 June is the National Day of Sweden?

We did (being one part Swedish!) but forgot to highlight it last month 🤭

So, we thought we'd mark it exactly one month later instead and use the opportunity to re-share our episode with Rene Fay owner of the wonderful Johansson's Café Horsham.

The National Day of Sweden is used to commemorate the day Gustav Vasa was elected as King of Sweden in 1523, signifying the end of the union with Denmark. This year was the 500th anniversary.

If you want to soak up some Swedish culture, head to Johansson's Cafe in the Bishopric and if you want to find out more about its owner, Rene, listen to our episode here: https://bit.ly/SOSwedishCafe or wherever you get your
