๐ง PHASE 2 - CREWKERNE ROAD CLOSURE >>> The closure of South Street in has now moved to phase 2. This closure is so that a private company (West & Wales Utilities) can dig up the highway and replace old subterranean gas pipes with modern ones.
๐ This means that South Street is completely closed between Domino's Pizza and Kithill. People kept asking where exactly the road is closed, so I've put together a little map to help people visualise the closure.
โป๏ธ During phase 2, access to the recycling centre or Bobs Tyres & Crewkerne Garage Services (and all businesses in the Blacknell Lane Industrial Estate) is via the middle of Crewkerne. If you're coming from , you'll need to go round via and on the A3066 and then turn left at the A30.
๐
ฟ๏ธ If you're trying to get to the parking behind the Antiques Bazaar or The Original Factory Shop - Crewkerne you will need to approach from Lang Road/Kithill. At the bottom of Kithill you can turn right into South Street (and vice versa if you're driving into Crewkerne from Misterton).
๐ Phase 3 of the road closure is due to begin at the end of July, when the gas main replacement work moves further towards Crewkerne railway station. At this point, the bottom of Kithill will be blocked off.
๐ Many people, such as the staff at Crewkerne Town Council, local Somerset Councillors, and the Council's Highways Team, are working hard to ensure this closure is as painless as possible - but it isn't easy. As ever thank you for your patience. And finally, please remember to support Crewkerne's shops and businesses which are all open as usual despite the road closure!
