Follow Coffee Co Celebrates a ยฃ200K Investment and Year of Success and Milestones ๐Ÿฅณ

Following a year of exceptional accomplishments and milestones, multi-award-winning Follow Coffee Company is celebrating their first birthday at Portrushโ€™s Follow Coast. The anniversary is accompanied by a significant ยฃ200k investment in their Ballymena branch, further solidifying their commitment to excellence and growth.

Owners Lesley and Mark McCaughan have firmly established Follow Coffee Co as a community staple in Ballymena over the past four years, it has become synonymous with quality and excellence. Recently, Lesley and Mark solidified their commitment to the brand's future by acquiring the building, completing the ยฃ200K transaction in December 2023. With a total of 22 staff members, they continue to elevate the coffee experience for their loyal customers.

Speaking of the investment, Lesley Said: โ€œWe are absolutely delighted to be celebrating multiple milestones today; our first birthday of Follow Coast and four years at Follow Ballymena.

โ€œWe made bold decision to invest in the building in Ballymena within five years of opening, so to do this ahead of schedule was a wonderful feeling and one which we are immensely proud of.

โ€œOur growth has been steady-year-one year and really exceeded our goals well beyond our target; in fact, the last 12 months have been our strongest to-date. We have really enjoyed getting to know our customers and have been rewarded with the most amazing staff. I want to thank the local communities in both Portrush and Ballymena for their support and custom over the past 4 years and look forward to a bright future in both towns.โ€

Follow Coffee Company is continually investing in the future and the business and most recently Jackie Robinson, former head chef in Follow Coast Portrush, was promoted to the esteemed position of Executive Chef across the brand. Jackie will be working closely with local suppliers and chefs to create exciting new dishes that will undoubtably delight our customers. His culinary prowess will be showcased in the eagerly anticipated launch of a new menu in Ballymena on June 4th, 2024.

Jackie Said: โ€œI am absolutely thrilled to be the new Executive Chef for the Follow brand. Lesley is a true visionary, and she has created a wonderful business. My goal is that anyone who visits Follow enjoys a unique culinary experience, featuring the best quality local produce, using unique flavours that elevate even the simplest of dishes. Thereโ€™s a huge amount of thought, flavour and passion that goes into each dish and I want to make sure that is experienced by every customer.โ€

In addition, owner Lesleyโ€™s exceptional leadership has received recognition, earning her the esteemed title of Coffee Shop Manager of the Year at the Institute of Hospitality Northern Ireland Awards in September 2023. This highly coveted accolade serves as a testament to Lesley's steadfast commitment to delivering unparalleled customer experiences in both branches.

Colin Neill, Chief Executive of Hospitality Ulster continued: โ€œIndependent businesses like Follow Coast are the backbone of our local communities. To see a business like this thrive is testament to the hard work and excellence of Lesley and her team. I wish them every success in the future.โ€

I am completely honoured to call Collette Creative Photography aka Collette O'Neill my friend and colleague.

From her lovely, warm, magnetic nature to her HUGE talent behind the camera, in front of and most importantly, with people. Collette, you deserve all the awards and accolades that are coming your way.

Enjoy every moment!

๐Ÿ“ธModel-Turned-Photographer Crowned Photographer of the Year: Celebrating 10 Years of Stunning Success! ๐Ÿ’ƒ

Collette Oโ€™Neill, a former high-profile fashion model, has seamlessly transitioned behind the camera lens to become one of the most respected and in-demand photographers in Northern Ireland. This week she was crowned Northern Ireland Photographer of the Year 2004 from the Professional Photographers Association Northern Ireland (PPANI). She also scooped multiple awards for her exceptional talent at their recent highly coveted awards.

Collette is now Northern Ireland Fashion Photographer of the Year and Overall Creative Photographer of the Year. Her outstanding talent and dedication to her photography have earned her the admiration of peers and clients alike, achieving a standing ovation at the glittering awards ceremony, held in Slieve Donard Hotel on Sunday night.

With almost two decades of experience as a fashion model for television, newspaper advertising, and promotional campaigns, Collette transitioned to the world of photography in 2014, launching her own business, Collette Creative. Today, ten years on, she has worked with some of the top personalities and brands in the world, from President Joe Biden, Vogue Magazine, Hello! Magazine to many local brands, as well as being chosen recently to photograph all the current female MLAs at Stormont Assembly. Her work spans a wide variety of sectors, including commercial, advertising, fashion, corporate and personal work.

Commenting at the awards, Collette said: "I am just blown away by the awards โ€“ I still cannot believe it!โ€

โ€œTo be recognised amongst all my peers who are just so talented is a real pinch-me moment and I am so happy. I cannot believe that I have come home with accolades that I thought I could only dream about. I am truly grateful and so very proud. Achieving a life achievement is really one of those out-of-body incredible experiences. โ€

"After years of working as a model, and indeed in my day job as a graphic and website designer I developed a deep appreciation for the artistry behind the camera," said Collette.

"Photography allows me to capture the beauty and diversity of the world around us, and I am grateful for the opportunity to express my creativity in this way."

Collette opened her own photographic studio in Belmont, East Belfast in 2016, and since then her portfolio and awards cabinet has gone from strength-to-strength.

โ€œI enjoy the human and personal connection that my career allows me to do and fostering relationships with my clients โ€“ this has been a cornerstone of my approach to every shoot, whether it's working with the President of the United States or capturing precious family portraits.

โ€œI love the interaction as well as the opportunity to capture memories that endure a lifetime, creating images that speak volumes.โ€

LifeHub NI Faces Unprecedented Demand Amidst Supply Challenges: Urgent Call for Support from Charity Boss๐Ÿ’ฅ

LifeHub NI, Belfast's leading fresh food bank, has today issued an urgent call for support amidst a perfect storm of heightened demand and fresh food supply challenges, leaving over 250 families eagerly on a waiting list for a weekly fresh food parcel. Founded by Edmund Aruofor in 2017 from Belfastโ€™s Townsend Enterprise Park, the charity aims to address the distressing reality that many families are living day-to-day, meal to meal, and the situation has worsened significantly over the past 12 months.

The demand for food assistance through LifeHub NI has surged dramatically, experiencing an overwhelming 500% increase in the past 12 months alone. Edmund Aruofor expresses, "LifeHub NI has been a crucial lifeline for over 8,000 families in Belfast over the past 24 months, providing fresh produce parcels sourced from local supermarkets and food distributors."

Since Brexit, supermarket supplies have diminished by 45%, exacerbating the challenges faced by LifeHub NI. The decrease in surplus stock has created significant hurdles in meeting the escalating demand for fresh food. Edmund emphasises, "While we remain determined to provide substantial quantities of food to those in need, the unfortunate reality is that there simply isnโ€™t enough food to meet the demand."

The cost-of-living crisis, coupled with increasing unemployment, paints a stark picture of families making sacrifices to ensure their children or elderly parents have enough to eat. Edmund urges people during this festive period to consider supporting LifeHub NI's pledge. Additional funds are critical to purchasing more food and eliminating the waiting list of families in dire need.

Edmund Aruofor, aged 62, the visionary behind LifeHub NI, has played a pivotal role in providing fresh food parcels to families, single individuals, and children throughout Belfast. Starting as a one-man band determined to combat food poverty, Edmund, gained the support of a dedicated team of volunteers, together, they now feed over 600 people per week, and support many other local charities. The waiting list for the twice-weekly food parcels has surged to over 250 individuals, double the number from 2022.

Recognising the critical juncture faced by LifeHub NI, Edmund underscores the urgency of financial support to secure fresh food supplies. The charity has established a Just Giving page, urging individuals with a genuine desire to address the crisis to contribute.

Edmund states, "Even ยฃ5 can help feed a family for a few days. While this amount may not seem significant to the average person on the street, it could mean the difference between eating for a few days or not at all for a family living in Belfast."

LifeHub NI asks the l local community to unite behind their campaign, ensuring no family goes hungry this Christmas. Donations of any size can make a profound impact on the lives of those struggling to meet their basic needs.

Antrimโ€™s Boathouse Triumph in Grand Reopening ๐Ÿฅณ

The McLaughlin family and the committed staff of The Boathouse Restaurant in Antrim have proudly marked a triumphant reopening following their recent contract win. Their passionate pledge to breathe new life into this beloved establishment has been met with resounding success, setting the stage for an exciting culinary chapter.

The McLaughlin family, in partnership with Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, took over the reins of the iconic Boathouse Restaurant last month. Their mission was simple yet profound: to revive the culinary gem that Antrim holds dear and, in doing so, give back to the local community.

Following a restoration process, The Boathouse opened its doors to a welcoming community, both new and familiar. Over the course of the day, the restaurant saw an outpouring of support and enthusiasm from customers eager to savour the reimagined dining experience. Plans are afoot to invest ยฃ150K into the restaurant over the next 18 months.

Under the guidance of Head Chef Michael McGuigan, who returned to lead the culinary team, The Boathouse unveiled an exquisite menu that showcases Northern Ireland's finest flavours. -Hot Off the W&G Baird Presses: Mary Peters Unveils New Autobiography-

It was a momentous day at W&G Baird, where history met the printing press. Sporting legend Lady Mary Peters, eagerly examined the first copies of her new highly anticipated autobiography, 'Mary Peters, My Story.'

The book, which is set to launch later this month, owes a lot of realisation to the generous sponsorship of Bailie Group, with all proceeds from the book sales directed towards the Mary Peters Trust, Northern Ireland's leading sporting charity.

Mary Peters' story is one of resilience, dedication, and triumph, and through this book, her impact on future generations of athletes will be indelibly etched. Published by Blackstaff Press, the autobiography is poised to be more than just a captivating read; it's a testament to her dedication to empowering the next generation of athletes. Since winning Gold at the 1972 Munich Olympic Games she has been a stalwart ambassador for sport for the country itself and has received several royal honours in recognition of her services to sport and the community.

Speaking at the signing of the first copies, Lady Mary Peters said: "I am absolutely delighted to be here today having a first glimpse of my new book, which has been many years in the planning and writing.

โ€œI am immensely grateful to everyone for their kindness and generosity in getting us to this exciting stage, particularly that of both Roy Bailie of Bailie Group for their incredible print sponsorship and the team at W&G Baird for producing such a wonderful book.

โ€œThis book is not just my story; it's a reflection of the extraordinary journey that unfolded after winning Olympic Gold medals. I feel privileged to have represented sport and Northern Ireland on the world stage, and I am deeply thankful to the people of Northern Ireland and beyond for affording me so many wonderful opportunities in my sporting career."

Through the Mary Peters Sports Trust, the sporting icon has dedicated her life to nurturing the dreams and aspirations of young athletes, both disabled and able-bodied, providing them with the support and resources they need to reach for the stars in their respective sporting pursuits. The Trust, under her tutelage, has a storied history of transforming dreams into reality, playing a pivotal role in the development of sports in Northern Ireland.

The autobiography, is not only a journey through the life of a sporting legend; it's a powerful means of giving back to the community and ensuring that the legacy of athletic achievement continues to flourish.

Roy Bailie, chairman of Bailie Group said: โ€œToday is a very proud day for us as a company and for me as a long-term, personal friend and colleague of Mary Peters, who I had the absolute privilege of working alongside at the Northern Ireland Tourist Board where we were both trustees.

โ€œThis collaboration with her new book is a source of immense pride for both Bailie Group and W&G Baird. Mary has given so much back to this country with her talent, intelligence, warm, friendly, and gregarious nature and her readiness with a humorous quip to make everyone smile. She is a true Northern Ireland legendโ€

Patrick Moffett, Managing Director at W&G Baird who printed the book said: โ€œMary's life story is nothing short of captivating, and she has touched countless lives through her remarkable journey.
