Projects of this size, with a long list of deliverables, need detailed pre-production processes. As well as meticulous use of our custom databases to keep track of shot list, scripts and file backups. We’re already at 600GB of footage over 2 days 👀

The Story So Far…

My aim with Absorb Films has always been to use my filmmaking experience to empower people and their businesses to level up their video marketing.

I work closely with brands and event organisers to create a rich visual identity that stands out on the feed and connects with their audience, fusing everything I’ve learnt about visual storytelling and marketing to deliver cinematic solutions.

I first went freelance with my filmmaking in 2012 and cut my teeth in events highlights, everything from nightlife to corporate fundraisers. I created music videos for independent artists and bands and even directed a charity comedy sketch with Matt Lucas, never a dull moment.

I branched out into branded content creating hero videos and content for SMEs up and down the country before pairing with digital agencies to create campaign videos for Coca Cola and Twinings. In 2017, Decathlon UK tasked Absorb Films to help craft a catalogue of content ranging from ‘How To’s’ and event recaps, internal comms to Christmas adverts.

In years since I’ve prided myself on bringing the same flair and attention to detail to my clients from John Lewis and Landsec to local eateries and start ups. My network of trusted creatives means Absorb Films can comfortably provide a ‘director-shooter-editor’ option as well as a crew for larger productions, this made directing 32 music videos at Abbey Road a hell of a lot easier.

I’m much happier behind the camera than in front of it, and I’m much happier spending downtime with my wife and kid than trying to think of some cool content to post online. I get so into filming I almost always forget to snap a behind the scenes shot and I go weeks without posting as I get so wrapped up in projects.

Earlier today I was in London shooting some interviews and was demoing angles whilst setting up. I’m often a one man band and record little awkward clips of myself sitting in before the subject arrives.

We’re ready to say ‘We do’ to a question we get asked A LOT.

After 10 years of award-winning video production for brands and events at , we’re expanding into the world of wedding videography, officially.

We’ve actually shot weddings every year since 2013 but these were often for family, friends or partnerships with our photographer pals. As the business grows and we expand our team in 2023, we’re taking our low-key side hustle to the masses.

And we love doing it, distilling the buzz of the day, the character and charm of each couple and fine-tuning our visual storytelling to create a heartfelt, entertaining and truly unique wedding film each time.

We’re going to be running limited slots each month to guarantee that Absorb Films finesse and keep post-production swift so you’ll be hosting the home premieres before you know it.

For the first time ever, we’ll be sharing trailers from some of our most recent wedding shoots as we open our books for 2023 and beyond. We’ll be celebrating the launch of our sister company with competitions throughout February, offering discounts to our first couples.

We're well versed in framing artful cinematography in the fast-paced spontanaeity of the events world.

It keeps us on our toes and produces some of our favourite cinematography moments where lighting, talent and camera movement combine and create magic.

Working closely with organisers and suppliers, we produce slick, FOMO inducing recaps, also known as aftermovies. Capturing the kinetic energy of a festival, the glory of an awards show or the glamour of a catwalk, we work on a variety of events up and down the UK.

INDIROCK :: LAUNCH FILM

When indirock_ approached us last year about creating a launch film for their socials, we couldn't say no. They're bringing something fresh, community driven and fun to Southend. They're empowering local businesses and have created an amazing space for people of all ages and abilities to explore Bouldering. The buzz around Indirock is undeniable and we're glad they had us down to create some opening creative content!

We were brought onboard to create a series of films for Landsec. The fine folks at The Yard Creative led the 'Succeed Together' campaign that took us all over the UK, capturing Landsec's spaces and the possibilities for the future of retail. Event shoots are back!

You’re finally given the green light to shoot a party. You arrive and the venue is lit beautifully for cinematography… Then you mingle with the guests who are clearly down for having fun. Add incredible performers like @thefunctionband into the mix and we have all the ingredients for a special shoot. This was always meant to be an internal video as many private event shoots are. We’re over the moon that the team at ExCel gave their blessing for us to share some of our favourite event cinematography with you.
