Meet Connor James - Our Founder
Connor James grew a passion for Radio, when he studied Music Technology in Campbeltown (Scotland) and used these skills to develop his passion by getting involved with a plethora of events by providing Lighting/Sound support all the while developing his Technical brain.
When Connor moved to Glasgow at 18 years of age, he delved into the DJ scene there, which is predominantly Happy Hardcore/Bounce/Techno however Connor managed to find a House Scene through House Dimensions based in Govan on a local Radio Station. They gave him opportunities to broadcast live to a City wide Audience, and gave him plenty of support throughout his time in Glasgow. This led him onto playing a few festivals and events across the city.
Connor enjoyed his time in Glasgow, and grew a huge network of professional friends across the Industry from fellow DJs to Promoters to Radio Stations managers. He subsequently managed to secure a few different type of Radio Shows on a few different stations, from a House music show to hosting a breakfast show 5 days a week.
This led him to London in his early twenties. Here his Music career began to flourish. Playing across London for events, venues and also guesting on other Radio Stations, as well as continuing his Radio Career.
However since Covid-19 and the collapse of the Music Industry Live events, the Radio Scene became a very competitive industry to get involved with, so with that Connor decided to take a step back from providing many hours of content to the Radio Stations and focus on his family whom he lives far away from.
Connor and his partner decided to purchase a Narrowboat, which they are always out on enjoying life at such a slow pace, and seeing people brought the confidence back to Connor. He realised that whilst it can be such a toxic and competitive industry, why doesn't he create a Radio Station that can provide a platform for other people in his position.
This is where BEATS UK RADIO was born.
He decided creating an Internet Station, with the prospects of DAB and owning a broadcasting Studio, why doesn't he give others a chance to shine and create a community of young DJ's/Presenters who can help build the station identity as well as helping themselves to develop, learn and create their own journey using BEATS UK RADIO as the foundation.
