I got to that point four years ago. I decided to take a different direction while still having the comfort of my monthly salary, until I’d learned my new skillset. It took me under 3 years to be able to leave my desk, at last.

No regrets. Just relief that I’m more in control of my life than I’ve ever been before. I wanted choices - and 2026 will see me have more than I could have imagined.

✨𝐓𝐡𝐞 “𝐈-𝐖𝐨𝐫𝐝” 𝐍𝐨 𝐎𝐧𝐞 𝐖𝐚𝐧𝐭𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐓𝐚𝐥𝐤 𝐀𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭✨

Let’s talk about the word that makes most women want to run for the hills…
No, not menopause. Not even Mondays.
I’m talking about:

Investment.

And to be fair, for years, I was the same.
When the word “investment” came up, all I saw were flashing pound signs and a voice in my head yelling:

“Nope. Can’t afford it. End of.”

And do you know why?
Because for 40 years I’d only ever been trained to pay bills, stretch a salary, and keep the household running.
Then repeat until the next payday.

Nobody ever taught me to ask a more powerful question:

“𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝐨𝐟 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐲𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐞𝐱𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐥𝐲 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐚𝐦?”

For some women, that cost is:
– missing milestones with the kids or grandkids
– working yourself into the ground to keep your head above water
– waking up at 3am worrying about debt or the next hay bill
– feeling trapped in a job that drains the life out of you

That was me.
The cost was massive. I felt like I couldn’t afford anything …
until I realised I couldn’t afford NOT to change something.

And here’s the truth that shocked me:

An investment isn’t about money. It’s about direction. It’s saying-

“I’m backing myself for once!”

Sometimes the bravest people you’ll ever meet, are the ones who were once terrified to start.

Seven years ago, Carmen Smith was living what many of us horsey girls would have called a dream - from the outside anyway. She was travelling whilst teaching natural horsemanship, living on the road with her horses. Ahhh, heaven!💫

BUT behind the scenes, she was drowning in debt.
Exhausted.
Time-poor.
And quietly stuck.

She worked harder and harder … and still couldn’t get anywhere.

And what strikes me most about Carmen isn’t just what she’s achieved - it’s who she was when she began – just like I was and so many others too:

Scared. Unsure. Doubting herself. Borrowing money just to attend an event she didn’t even feel confident going to.

And yet … she felt a nudge and went anyway.

Fast forward to now - that same woman owns her 96-acre dream farm, works from home, supports herself fully, enjoys deciding how she’ll spend her time, travels whenever she wants, renovates her farmhouse to her own style … and rides her horses for fun again.

No more survival.
No more burnout.
No more constant pressure.

Freedom.

What comes through in everything Carmen does is her conviction - not noise, not hype - just a deep certainty that change is possible - if you’re willing to choose it.🌟

She doesn’t pretend it was easy. She names the fear. The vulnerability. The inner turmoil. And she proves that you don’t have to feel “ready” - you just have to be willing.

Her story reminds me of something very simple and very powerful:

Nothing changes, if nothing changes.

And sometimes, one brave decision really CAN change everything.🙏🏼

2026 is just around the corner. Another year rolling in. Are you ready to do things differently? Or are you prepared to spend another year like this one and the one before and the one before that one etc etc.?

I thought I didn’t have the time, but I soon realised that finding time is easier than we all think. Instead of scrolling on my phone, I now use social media with intention. Don’t get me wrong, I still enjoy using it, but I have control of it instead of the other way around.

Ever feel like these three? 🐑

Plenty of space all around them - but still standing politely behind a gate that doesn’t even go anywhere.

Made me chuckle, but also made me think …

How many of us stay put because we think we can’t move forward - when actually, the only thing in our way is our own belief that something is blocking us?

That was me for years - waiting for the right time, the right opportunity, the right “sign.”
