Francis Knights is a specialist in Renaissance and Baroque music, and has taught at several of England's leading universities. The method describes a syllabus designed for classical music, but it could easily be adapted for the study of any other style of music, such as jazz or pop.

Instrumentation: 2 violas da gamba and bc.
Sünching manuscript. A bass part has not been preserved, but it is probable that these works were played with bass so a figured bass part composed by Wolfgang Kostujak is included.The music is very varied. Alongside majestic, chordal introductions, there are fugal sections, virtuoso viol solos, variations on catchy themes, magnificent chaconnes, and fast, at times wild conclusions.
