A recording from Guildford's Open Mic Venue - The King's Head, Stoke Road, GU1 4JW.
George had little experience of performing before he started coming to the Kings Head Open Mic nights every Monday - every time he performs, he gets better and better.
George quotes his music influences as including: Jimi Hendrix, Marcus King, Cardinal Black & Stevie Ray Vaughan.
Speaking about performing Marcus King tracks, George says: 'Performing these tracks is so fun because I get so inspired hearing them. So being able to get that inspiration out is a buzz!'
If you enjoy live music and take pleasure from watching developing talent blossom, then please join us every Monday night at 8pm at the Kings Head.
And, if you fancy performing, then this is a great venue to give it a go. The performers are all incredibly supportive of one another - no-one started out brilliant.. But to get there they all had to take the first step... ya know. There is a range of ability and experience. Everyone is welcome.
Hope to see you at the Kings Head soon!

This is Huw Lloyd providing his rendition of the classic Sinatra track: 'That's Life.' Huw is originally from Wrexham, North Wales and is currently in his second year studying as a singer songwriter at the Academy of Contemporary Music in Guildford.
Huw's performances are always a reflection of his friendly, entertaining and charismatic personality, and this is no exception.

He describes his musical influences as including: Billy Joel, Elton, Sinatra, Michael Buble, Jamie Cullum & John Mayer.
The Kings Head 'Open Mic' is held every Monday at the Kings Head, Stoke Road, Guildford (GU1 4JW) - so please come along and enjoy some extraordinary developing talent!

Sgt Stan Graham
Can you help me find the Graham Family from County Durham?
I produced this very short film, less than 4 minutes long, a couple of years ago. It’s about the tragic story of Sergeant Stan Graham told by his Lieutenant, Francis Goode.
Francis was younger than Stan, but was his boss - Francis was an officer (Lieutenant) and Stan was his Sergeant - the crucial link between an officer and his men.
I filmed Francis’s life story in 2022 just after his 98th birthday and produced the final film a few months later.
Francis’s 100th birthday was in May this year. That day, he gathered all his family around him at his home in Watford - his 4 grandchildren and all their children. They had all watched the film I made, so all felt very connected with their extraordinary grandfather - a war hero, a substitute father for his fatherless Grandson, Michael (who asked me to make the film); a modest man, thoughtful and very kind.
That evening with his family around him, Frances took his leave and walked up the stairs to bed.
And then he lay down, and died.
Perhaps one of your Facebook friends has the family name, Graham? But even if not, please share this post and perhaps we will find them.
Please like & share. Please let's try and serve this extraordinary man who now, perhaps, is finally reunited with Stan - a man who died, for us.
Thank you.

Harry is a brilliant bass guitarist in a band but here he is performing 'Laid' by James and giving an outstanding rendition of the track that famously became the theme song for the American Pie film franchise.
Harry is from Bury St Edmund's in Suffolk. He started playing bass and guitar at the age of twelve and he is currently studying bass performance, full-time at music school in Guildford. A guy to watch for the future...
This track is one that Harry and his father listened to together during Covid lockdown - so as Harry says: 'There's a lot of sentimental value in it for me.'
Harry watched the raw video of his previous performance at the Kings Head Open Mic a few weeks back - the video footage is made available to everyone who performs. Harry said he wasn't quite reaching the notes he was aiming for... but he did this time.
We are all our own harshest critic right? So it kind of helps sometimes to be able to watch ourselves and breakdown all the different aspects of our performance, and figure out to tweak and improve.
If you are a singer, a musician or both, or simply someone like me who just enjoys watching and listening to serious talent develop, please do drop into the pub any Monday night for the Open Mic from 8pm onwards - you won't regret it.

Vega and Izzy Performing 'Tennessee Whiskey' by Dillan and Hargrove
A recording from Guildford's Open Mic Venue - The King's Head, Stoke Road, GU1 4JW.
Every Monday evening at the Kings Head Open Mic, there are moments that send shivers down your spine...
Izzy provide one such unique moment with this track. The power of her voice is extraordinary and the way she harmonises with Vega is beautiful!
Both Vega and Izzy are studying at Guildford's Academy of Contemporary Music, in their second year.
Izzy is from the West Country. She has been singing for years - gigging in Devon mostly. She is now studying a songwriting creative artist course.
Izzy's comments on 'Tennessee Whiskey' - 'I love that song because it's powerful and emotive and shows a lot of range.'
I guess it depends on how you sing it really - and Izzy really does deliver power, emotion and amazing range.
Enjoy!
Hope to see you on Monday. The Open Mic starts at 8pm.

Vega Performing 'Memories' Her Own Original Work - KH 30-09-2024
Vega is a country girl with a love for country music, studying at Guildford’s Academy of Contemporary Music in Bridge Street, near Guildford Station.
This is an original piece by Vega, which perfectly shows off her developing musical talent as a singer, composer, musician and lyricist. She has such a lovely voice with real developing depth.
What was the inspiration for this track? Vega says, 'Memories is inspired by a heartbreak that I went through and it’s about finding self love again after being made to feel you’re not good enough, and moving on with lots of hard work and time!'
As well as studying, Vega works part-time at the Kings Head - you may find her behind the bar when you next visit.
The Kings Head ‘Open Mic’ is held every Monday evening from 8pm onwards at the Kings Head pub in Stoke Road (GU1 4JW). Just turn up and watch, and if you feel inspired to perform then just ask for Danny Ross - he is the organiser - and he will try and fit you in.
Performances are welcome from people of all levels of ability - it’s a very supportive atmosphere - a great ‘sandbox’ in which to find your voice.
