“What’s happening with Facebook?” was the question everyone asked on Monday! After the 6-hour bug that occurred to the whole Facebook family (Messenger, Instagram, and WhatsApp), disturbing users of the platforms to connect with others has caused a big talk around it. Later, it was revealed that the problem started from their own software update, leaving their own employees locked out from the building!

AND on top of that, now we have the revelation of their own files exposed!

The company’s whistle-blower Frances Haugen outlined that Instagram isn’t suitable for kids and Facebook’s private system “XCheck” shielding high-profile accounts from some of its rules.

Also, another disclosure made by her is the company lying about their data statistics to Stakeholders! The fear of losing the younger generation and not being their top choice has pushed them to the ‘dark side’. One of the reasons why Facebook purchased Instagram in first place was to appeal and win the youngsters, because they knew that they were losing them slowly.

This is where the next question begins: “Has Instagram’s momentum disappeared with Tok-Tok’s rapid growth?” and the answer is yet to be revealed, because Instagram was Facebook’s hope to be an ambassador for the younger generation!

In the past couple of years, they obliviated core metrics to investors and advertisers about the content produced and the platform’s growth individually (sharing only statistics that combine the whole “family”). We will be on the look of how the situation will evolve and what changes could that propose to the way we’ll market online!

Marketing tip 6: Grow at Your Own Speed
Success comes differently to everyone!

Don’t look at other people’s growth, instead focus on your own milestones and the route you are taking to achieve them. Celebrate every small achievement, because they are considered as success to your own standards.

Do not forget that: every new follower, every new engagement or any small change in your analytics is a measurement for success.

As advertising and marketing tools and methods have become so widely accessible due to social media, this has been good for many reasons as its opened the flood gates for smaller companies to have a shot at marketing to the masses, but it's a double-edged sword as this has created a massive saturation of marketing content, making it harder than ever to stand out.

This is why you should really think about the content you're putting out and how you can stand out to potential customers by observing your industry as a whole and filling in on areas your competitors are missing out on.

As we know the ‘Story’ was first released by Snapchat in 2013, marking the platform’s success and gaining approval of its users. After Snapchat's success, the next social media app to incorporate it was Instagram, after that Facebook and WhatsApp!This feature allows brands to release content that is live, raw, or even unedited – it shows another perspective of them.

Not long-ago Twitter and LinkedIn also decided to join the popular trend and release ‘Stories’ to their options as well, or ‘Fleets’ as Twitter users know it by!
However, after a yearlong experiment, Twitter decided to end ‘Fleets’ as it fails to attract users to use it. They hoped that their audience will feel comfortable using the option to join conversations, but unfortunately, they couldn’t.
Now, LinkedIn has also announced that from September 30th ‘Stories’ will be taken down from the app, making any pre-scheduled Stories after the due date run as normal posts on the feed!

It’s interesting how for some platforms ‘Stories’ turn out to be a huge success and for others failing to attract the audience! Personally, what is your thought about this subject?

Have you used ‘Stories’ or ‘Fleet’ and are you sadden about the idea of them being removed? Share your opinion with us below!

Marketing tip 5: Bring Value to your Audience

Make sure that the content you’re creating is specific for your target audience and that it meets their needs! It should always be RELEVANT, ENGAGING and INFORMATIVE!

Relevant - tailored to the interests of your audience, will it be of interest to them or not?

Engaging - does it spark any interactions - likes, comments, shares, etc.

Informative/ Educational - do you bring any knowledgeable value to them?

It doesn't matter how many followers and likes you have if your not creating anything of value to your potential customers, and to show you are worth people's time and money you need to convey that value through your content. Engagement is obviously a very important factor when it comes to social media marketing but not with content that has nothing to do with your company.

There are loads of trends, memes, and content that could get you thousands of likes, but it won't create any leads or customers. This is why a hundred followers who are genuinely interested in your business and find use from your products and not just your content will be way more valuable than a thousand followers who may like your posts but they wont ever buy from you.

Marketing tip 4: Don’t Count The Likes

Follower counts and likes are not the most important thing, because it’s never a guaranteed measurement for success!

You can have plenty of likes and followers (which is great) but ask yourself how many of them are leads, or are customers? You can have smaller numbers but they are 10x more meaningful in helping you generate revenue than those thousand viewers only!

Marketing tip 3: Listen to your customers
As Bill Gates once said: “Your most unhappy customers are your greatest source of learning.”

The people who turned away from you are those from whom you should learn - because this is how you will fix your mistakes and improve! When you identify the problem of why people leave, then you’re going to find the solution of how to make them stay.

Also, people express their dissatisfaction in many ways, so keep an eye on social media for any tweets/posts about their experience with you!

People buy from People, not from bots!

Don’t be afraid to show your followers your human side, because this will help you connect with them even more.

Try to escape from the boring business/sales talk and share your story bit by bit, or some behind the scene action and you will see the change.
