You could be the solution for engineering businesses in Great Yarmouth and Lowestoft desperate for good skilled workers.

APPLY today for 12 weeks' FREE engineering training and you could be starting a new career by September.

Tom Beales, director at Armultra in Great Yarmouth, said a skills shortage was seriously affecting local companies.

“We struggle to find skilled people in all areas. We can train people once they are here with the basic skills. We need people with the right attitude, who want to work, have an interest in the industry, ask questions and want to progress.”

Employers working with East Coast College East Suffolk Council Great Yarmouth Borough Council and New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership have come up with the fast-track training as one solution.
“As long as we, as a collective, can get more people into the industry, it is better for everyone. At the end of the first cohort, we will have 25-30 new people into the industry and there will be another 25-30 in the next cohort too,” Tom said.

BBC Radio Norfolk's main story on this morning's breakfast show was the cost-of-living crisis.
Presenter Rob Butler spoke to The Inclusive Economy Projects Declan Jones about the worries of people he was helping at the drop-in centre at Shrublands, Gorleston.
Joining him was Debbie Watson, of Future Projects who explained how the people the project helps who are furthest from the employment market are facing even more barriers to gain skills to get back into work.
Travel and childcare costs are big issues for people volunteering to gain skills to get into work. Putting food on the table and paying bills is taking priority, she said.
Her advice for everyone was to go to the The Inclusive Economy Project gateway where all kinds of short and help are available.
https://iep.futureprojects.org.uk
or call 01493 419255 and ask for a member of The Inclusive Economy Project team.

You can listen to the chat with Declan and Debbie here from 137.46 minutes in to 146.16.

Sometimes the highest hurdle is to ask for help when life is tough.
Everyone needs support and be shown where the next step to better things is and how to get there and make it through what might feel like an impossible situation.
The Inclusive Economy Project team is there with solutions when you might feel there are none.
Trust them to support you through.
Take that first step by registering here: https://iep.futureprojects.org.uk
Or call 01493 419255 and ask to speak to a member of the The Inclusive Economy Project team.

If you know anyone who needs this support, please share this with them or help them register or call. It could make all the difference to their lives.

Finding the right help can often feel like a struggle, but a point in the right direction can help.

Chris, 45, from King’s Lynn spent 11 years caring for his ex-partner, but when his relationship broke down, he was left unemployed and struggling mentally.

Finding a job was the last thing on his mind.

“My mental health was more of an issue than picking up work. Recovering from my breakdown was my main focus. At the time I didn’t think I had much in terms of a future, yet alone be seen to be employable.”

“The Inclusive Economy Project gave me the confidence and support to get back into work. I found there was no pressure, and it showed me there was light at the end of the tunnel. The help I got enabled me to do things in my own time frame, which was really helpful in-itself,” said Chris.

Since getting help from the Inclusive Economy Project Chris now works as a Winter Resilience Officer for Access Community Trust.

“The help I got has been pivotal in my return back to work. I feel I have a purpose again. It was really positive at a time when I felt so low and despondent.”

If you, like Chris did, need some support, at the Inclusive Economy Project we offer FREE support to anyone unemployed in Norfolk.

Flying the flag for virtual tenancies at OrbisEnergy in Lowestoft.

This morning we took advantage of TMS Media’s tenancy and held our morning PR catch up at the five story building overlooking the North Sea.

OrbisEnergy has become a hub for clean energy in the East of England housing some of the biggest names in the renewable energy industry.

Having a virtual office at OrbisEnergy is not only fantastic for networking, but gives businesses a footprint and address.

2022 has been a strong year for OrbisEnergy in terms of new tenancy and TMS Media are delighted to welcome four new tenants - AEP Global, Skanwear, Clean Power Lab and Vectur Energy Services.

Great to see the new tenants featured in the EDP: https://www.edp24.co.uk/news/business/four-firms-set-up-bases-at-oribis-energy-9262814

Delighted to support another edition of Insight Energy out today with interviews, features and industry insight on the theme of energy expansion.

Our PR team Rachel Moore, Louisa Lay and Victoria Mayo enjoyed digging deep into the real issues for key industry leaders and hearing about so many growth plans of businesses targeting the east of England.

A pleasure to talk to North Sea Transition Authority, North Star, The SMS Group, Clarksons Port Services, Associated British Ports, Gibb Group Ltd, Fristads AB, Norwich Business School, Gardline Limited and ODE.

Big thanks to Pam Wilson from the BIG Partnership and Simon Belgard for setting up interviews.

A pleasure to work with effective PR professionals who understand exactly what we need, and that a deadline is a deadline.

And a big shout out to the most patient editor Sophie Stainthorpe - we got to the right cover design in the end!

No one will miss it.

One of the most enjoyable aspects of running a business in Great Yarmouth is opening our doors to young people for work experience.
All the team are so proud of how far Jaydn Johnson has come since he came for work experience from East Coast College Two years on, he’s become an integral - and paid - part of our team, ran his own successful videography business alongside his studies and notched up an impressive triple distinction star in his BTEC in creative media. He heads off to London to start his degree at the weekend at the prestigious Met Film School.
It’s been a total pleasure working with him. Looking forward to watching his career progress.
Good luck from all of us.

What a summer the TMS Media team has had. Between producing college prospectuses, designing adverts, digital marketing, E-shots, websites and brochures for clients, our PR team has been out and about with media crews building our clients’ stories.
A trip offshore with offshore wind clients Vattenfall taking media crews to see wind in action was a highlight - as well as facilitating ITV Good Morning’s live seaside broadcast at Great Yarmouth.
Into a ‘new term’ here with a promise to put more effort into our social media.
Like builders and painters and decorators - we love working our magic on our clients’ image and reputation, and neglect our own.
We’ve got lots of interesting work ahead and want to talk about it.

TMS Media showbiz desk has been busy this week mixing with the stars for the best cause.
John Bultitude has been working with long-term client Bruno Peek on an alternative way for the nation to mark next Friday's 75th anniversary of VE Day after all the events he spent 18 months planning were cancelled.
Dame Joan Collins has stepped in to help and will be leading a national toast.
John has been rushed off his feet fixing up interviews and making sure Bruno's efforts get the media attention it deserves to get the UK on it feet to raise a glass - or mug - to thank those who gave so much.

Nation’s Toast organiser Bruno Peek is delighted that award-winning actress Dame Joan Collins has been named patron of this year’s VE Day celebrations.

Something else we've been up to this week with our client Vattenfall
Our new TMS-er John Bultitude made this podcast to mark the launch of its supply chain report for its Norfolk Vanguard and Norfolk Boreas offshore wind farm projects.
So exciting to be in the 'vanguard' of the green energy revolution working with the people wanting to build the world's biggest wind farms off our coast and invest billions of pounds in the Norfolk and Suffolk economies.
If you're interested in offshore wind and how more local businesses can get involved in the industry, give it a listen.

As businesses across East Anglia are poised to join the wind power revolution, we looked at the work already being done by Vattenfall to engage with local businesses finding out more about their plans

Here at TMS Media, we always a find a way. We're continuing supporting our clients with our services through the lockdown.
This week, we've been getting our clients' news and messages in the media, designing a new website, resolving clients' websites technical issues, coming up with new concepts and designs for clients and making podcasts for clients.
It's not business as usual but it's business in the new normal for a while. Keep in touch.
One from this week......

East Anglian businesses are in prime position to win contracts worth millions, with the region at the epicentre of a windfarm revolution.

Lovely to see this piece included in the EDP this morning about Milly Chapman, an inspirational young woman from Dereham, who we had the pleasure of interviewing on behalf of our client Vattenfall.

After meeting the company at a community outreach session, Milly spent two years working with Vattenfall UK's community and skills programme for young people here in Norfolk and was inspired to change her career path and turn her ambitions into reality.

She is now carving out a career with £15 billion global engineering business Jacobs in London, after winning its first environmental degree apprenticeship opportunity in the UK.

After five years of study she will qualify as a Chartered Environmental Consultant, with the chance to work all over the world.

Congratulations to Milly, who grabbed the opportunity to learn new skills with both hands and is reaping the well deserved rewards.

What a start to 2020 for our client Goodchild Marine Services Ltd.
Four of the team travelled to Dublin this week to see the company's first exported ORC 171 pilot boat DPC Tolka, ordered by Dublin Port Company, settle into her new home.

Meanwhile back on home turf the latest ORC 136 pilot boat Gannet has been launched in the yard's marina. She's the fourth of five ORCs for Briggs Marine for its Liverpool base and delivery is later this month. The fifth boat will make her debut at Seawork 2020.

A good opportunity to shout about what an amazing team Goodchild Marine has in place. A team of 40 multi-skilled workers, most local to and , who are helping to make national and international headlines with the calibre of boats produced. And of course there's more to come.

Lovely story about our client Goodchild Marine Services Ltd
General manager Steve Pierce has just celebrated 20 years with the business, while simultaneously celebrating 10 years of marriage to his wife Lisa - who he met when she began working there.
The couple now make up half of the management team alongside husband and wife Alan and Sue Goodchild.
And what a team! The company is responsible for some of the most innovative and groundbreaking boats - not just locally, but nationally and internationally.
Never a business to rest on its laurels, Goodchild Marine Services Ltd continually strive for new challenges and opportunities and we love working with them to highlight these credentials.

Not only is Steve Pierce marking 20 years with boat builder Goodchild Marine, he is also celebrating a decade of marriage to wife Lisa, who he met when she joined the family-run business 17 years ago.
Steve, who is General Manager, trained as a furniture maker after spending his childhood scavenging for odd pieces of wood to turn into various creations.
His skills translated to work as a bench joiner and boat builder until he joined the expanding team in 1999.
For several years Steve took the lead on the company’s local lifeboat contract before he became general manager.
Office manager Lisa joined Goodchild Marine as a receptionist in 2002, after delivering her CV by hand and writing on the envelope that it was from ‘a nice lady’.
Initially friends, the couple’s relationship grew and they married at Sprowston Hall in 2009, with staff members taking key roles in the proceedings.
Steve said: “This year’s Seawork exhibition and conference in Southampton was our best yet, a lot of people were talking about Goodchild Marine, which made me really proud.
“We are very fortunate to operate locally, nationally and internationally, and over the years we have continued to keep challenging ourselves and diversifying. We never do the same thing, the company constantly evolves and we always strive to respond to developing technology.
“That’s what drives me, and I am of course very lucky to have my wife by my side.”

We're always proud of the work we achieve for our clients.
But we're especially proud when something our team has completed is given its own launch.
This 36-page legacy brochure, Visions of a Sustainable Future, written, photographed and designed by the talented TMS team is to be launched at an event at the University of East Anglia (UEA) Enterprise Centre on October 1.
We were approached for the project because of our interviewing, writing and editing skills. Little did they know we had the design and photography skills under our roof too.
Printed on recycled stock by Healeys Printers, it is a great read and a real quality document.
Our team can't wait to join the launch at the UEA - and we're looking forward to an exciting new project we are working on with the UEA to be unveiled in London in the autumn.

TeamTMS saying farewell to our friend and colleague Richard Balls as he heads off to a new role with the New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership in Norwich.
It's been a brilliant year having his experience, humour and straight-talking (is there any other type in our team?) in the office, but now he's headed back to the city where he can walk to work - giving him more time for those "can I just talk something through with you" phone calls from our CEO Rachel Moore. They won't end just because you're not here, Richard!
The best of luck for the future from all your friends.
