I’m in training again… I’m really not very good at stopping, I am instead very good at doing. Achieving things, however big or small, is what drives me - it’s what I make a living out of after all, so on the whole that’s quite handy! To reset, reframe, regroup and rest however requires an element of stopping, or at least slowing… I have pondered this conundrum over the last few days and have come to the conclusion that we can fight against who we are and how we are wired, or we can use those traits to positive effect and achieve what we want or need to in a different way. So, whilst I’m on holiday I have established a somewhat shorter more targeted list of things to-do each day:
- Move a little (ideally more than I do at home)
- Drink more water
- Eat well (i.e. enough, not lots!)
- Sleep enough (even if that requires a cheeky little nap in the day)
- Take a moment to be mindful
So far today I’ve eaten a healthy breakfast, I’ve just refilled my water bottle, and shortly I’m going to climb into that pool and have a swim (mindfully), before getting back on my beanbag on the beach for a nap whilst I dry off… I think I’ve cracked it! A drink at the bar at sunset to celebrate is in order - I’ll add it to the list! 😉
