Help shape the future of reporting crime.

The Association of Police and Crime Commissioners has launched a survey into people's experiences of reporting crimes. We know from speaking to local residents that it is not always easy to do.

It is a real concern when we consider how much crime is not reported due to the time it takes and the lack of police and support staff. Recruitment and retention are vital to enable more police to be walking and talking in our communities.

Please take a few minutes to complete the survey and make your voice heard

Update from Councillor June Cully and Councillor Alan Durrant

June and Alan attended an extraordinary full council meeting on Thursday 9th June at which 3 topics were discussed and voted on:

-Parking charges in Gosport town centre
-Amenity skips
-A change to the constitution

Parking Charges:
June and Alan supported the parking charge changes, with the assurance that town centre residents parking will be reviewed to try and help those who live in the town but are not entitled to a town centre resident permit.
We recognise the High Street needs help and those who live here do shop locally.
We were also assured that Councillor Chegwyn offered help to the Park Run representatives after they presented a petition signed by 250 people.

Amenity skips:
June and Alan supported amenity skips. The skips will be free for six month trial. Alan asked how residents would be notified and if they were not wanted in an area how would this be managed.
June put forward the use of them for community clean ups with the involvement of housing officers, charities metal collection etc to help those who do not have the ability to access the HWRC and identify what could be re used and recycled.

Constitution change:
June and Alan opposed the change to the constitution, which will prevent decisions made by council boards having to be approved by the full council before they can be passed.

How has it possibly been over a week since the Jubilee bank holiday weekend? Gosport really did celebrate in style!

June and Alan spent the day at Stoke Road's celebrations with the Level Up Young People (previously Loud and Proud) helping at Christchurch at this very popular event. Stoke Road was buzzing and the church was packed for the Magic Show. There was a non-stop stream of residents enjoying a sit down and refreshments in the church garden. The Radio Solent bus and interview with Ray the vicar really set the scene. The traders pulled out all the stops to make it a fun and entertaining day and when we toured to check for litter we had to stop for hopscotch, tombola and karaoke!
The music and entertainment was excellent.
Well done to the traders, friends and families, Christchurch, Jackie from GVA, Louis and all those who helped make it a very special celebration.
