CHRISTMAS DELIVERIES
We will still be offering the normal next working day delivery service for orders placed by 12.30pm. However, please bear in mind that couriers are exceptionally busy this time of year so if you need paint for the festive period, please allow extra time just in case.

Please try to place orders needed for the Christmas period by 12.30pm Monday 16th December. This extra delivery time is especially useful for postal orders of 150ml sample tins and craft packs.

Orders placed with courier delivery services (all paint tins other than 150ml sample tins or Craft Packs) on the morning of Friday 20th December should be delivered on Monday 23rd December.

CHRISTMAS OPENING DATES
The factory and office will be open from 9am to 1pm Monday 23rd December to sort final orders before closing for the Christmas week.

A Christmas elf will be popping into the factory on Monday 30th December from 10am to 2pm to get out urgent orders, with couriers delivering after New Year’s Day.

The factory and office will re-open from Thursday 2nd January 2025 at the normal times of 9am to 5pm.

Last Friday Wayne interviewed the utterly delightful for the TV Carpenter Podcast.

It was such a great interview with Manoj chatting about his past career in fashion to his sensational career as a garden designer that now sees him as a designer, TV presenter, RHS judge and ambassador for Inclusion & Diversity, and an author.

We had the pleasure of working with and meeting Manoj when he designed the RHS & Eastern Eye Chelsea garden in 2023. His garden was full of delightful colour and we worked with him to create bespoke Wood Paint colours for his fencing, posts and pergola in a stunning palette inspired by his Indian heritage and mum's marital sari. He very kindly says "Thorndown were amazing" and "helped so much" 😁

The garden was a huge success and is featured on the cover of his book "Your Outdoor Room - How to Design a Garden You Can Live With" showing some of the beautiful features from the colours of his planting to wood paint colours on the fence. I've bulk bought a pile for birthday presents, a Christmas present (the earliest I've ever bought one of those!) and, ahem, one for me as a treat.

It's a great listen so pour yourself a big pink gin, sit back and enjoy!

Tonight we're going to the Glastonbury Mural Trail Fundraiser, marking its 5 year anniversary.

We're very happy and proud to have been involved with the mural trail since the start, and over the years have supplied paint for 7 murals on the trail painted by some incredibly talented artists:

I messed up the bunting line in the middle window so after leaving it to dry and film form I’ve peeled it off so I can re-paint it with a better line, joining the other windows for a Jubilee celebration. JUBILEE BUNTING 🎉 with Thorndown Peelable Glass Paint 🦀🎨 Here's the second video showing painting on the banner banding and stencils. As I mentioned yesterday I made a blunder in the middle window and got lost on my bunting flag line so I'm going to peel off those flags and re-paint. I painted the stencilling on using a sponge and Zinc Grey Peelable Glass Paint to give it a platinum feel. Even though I only put a small amount of paint on the sponge it was still a bit too much so there is some smudging and smearing which I will tidy up by just scraping off the obvious bits with my finger nail or the end of an art paint brush works well too. Any excuse for decorating will do for me! #PlatinumJubilee #windowdecorating #artsandcrafts #windowart #windowpainting #bunting #peelableglasspaint

With the Platinum Jubilee celebrations coming up I practised painting bunting on the windows with Peelable Glass Paint. You can use a stencil and sponge on the paint which gives a smoother coating, or freehand with a brush giving the appearance of bunting hanging and fluttering in the breeze. If you wanted sharper straight lines you could use a ruler as a guide, saving you the cost of a stencil. 1st I painted on the Dragon Red flags, then Swan White and finally Elf Blue, where I made the rookey error of going too high in the central window and messed up the curve of the bunting. But fear not as it's Peelable Glass Paint so I'll just peel it off and correct it! I could also have followed the advice I gave to a customer and painted the bunting string on first to keep the line flowing correctly. I did this after the flags using Zinc Grey for a regal platinum look. You can paint on a second coat to make the colour coating more solid but leave to dry for 6-12 hours in-between coats as window temperatures will still be quite cool at this time of year so drying time is extended and you don't want to pull off your 1st coat when painting on a 2nd. To make the windows even prettier I painted on crown and palace stencils using Zinc Grey, applying with a sponge. You only need a tiny amount of paint for sponging and I put on too much so they're a bit smudgy in areas, but again, it's peelable so you can scrape off and tidy edges when it's dry. The whole window only took about 15 minutes and you'll only need 40ml tins for a window that size, with paint to spare.
