In August 2022, full time staff nurse Robin Downie attempted to become the first person to complete the 'Martin Moran Round', an endurance challenge set amongst the rugged peaks and wild glens of the NW Highlands of Scotland. Inspired by the local mountains of his youth and Martin's own record breaking Munros round back in 1984, Robin dreamt up this epic challenge to raise funds for the Foundation and push his own personal limits.
'These were Martin's local hills, he knew them better than anyone and shared them with many of us throughout his life. Martin spent lots of time investing in the community he lived in, especially in the young people. Hearing about his adventures and reading his books has inspired me to push and challenge myself even further in my love for hill running.’
Amongst climbing hard routes in some of the most challenging mountains around the world, Martin devoted his life to giving others, particularly children an introduction to the outdoors. After Martins death in 2019, his family decided to keep this legacy alive and founded the Martin Moran Foundation, who run courses every year to develop mountain skills for young people from all around the UK.
The route, crosses over 90 km of wild, pathless terrain, with over 8,890m of ascent, and included 9 Munros and 6 Corbetts. Robins attempt will see him try to complete the round in less than 24 hours, raising money and awareness for the Martin Moran Foundation along the way.

Balance has just been officially selected to play at this year and I can’t wait to see audiences enjoy it on the big screen.
This was such a fun project to bring together, and basically involved hanging out with in the highlands for a few days trying to avoid the snow and make sure she didn’t get too cold whilst I faffed with the drone. Sometimes the process is just easy and everything falls into place, and this was of those.
It’s a story about balancing life, maximising performance and enjoying the mountains, all of which I think can be fairly elusive things.
pulled together the edit, which I’m absolutely sure is why the process felt so easy for me!
Big thanks to everyone else that was involved, especially for the great voiceover!!
When Top Out Brewery] approached me to ask if I had any shots of Callum Johnson] that they could put on a limited edition can as part of their athlete range I had to say yes!
The fact that the shot is of Callum on 100 years of solitude, E8 6c in Fisherfield is even more exciting because we shot these images whilst filming for on a seriously memorable trip to Carnmore.
The beer tastes amazing too!
Thanks to the team Top Out Brewery] for being endlessly psyched, and thanks Callum Johnson] for having me along to shoot on so many epic days in the hills!
Definitely a career highlight!
Exciting to see a race here in the UK and what feels like the start of European style events here on home turf. Even more exciting that it was showing of the beauty, variety and ruggednesses of North Wales!
A pleasure as always to work alongside a great 🎥 team! .waring .allard
Balance, a mediative love letter to books, running and the wild Highlands.
When we sat down with and came up with the concept for this film I knew it was going to be a good one, and when I heard this interview answer I knew it was going to be better than I had imagined!
Inspired by stories from a young age, Rab athlete, Georgia Tindley, moved to the Highlands to be closer to the Scottish landscapes she had read and dreamed about.
Today, as well as being a teacher Georgia competes at the highest level of the international skyrunning scene.
In this mediative love letter to books, running and the wild Highlands she now calls home, we join Georgia on her quest for one of the most important things in life: Balance.

Here’s a shot of me in my happy place, running around the mountains with a camera in my hand taken on a shoot in the Highlands with and .cook earlier in the year.
Currently four weeks into a six week stretch of back to back shoots, all of which are incredible stories that I can’t wait to put out to the world. There’s a load of really cool stuff coming very soon.

Here’s one from the .co to get you psyched for summer mountain trails!
It’s looking like the 2022 race season is going to be pretty busy for us, and we can’t wait!
See you out there! 🤟
It’s been a wild winter, we moved up to Glasgow in the summer to be closer to the big mountains and in the back of my mind that meant to spend the winter honing my winter skills.
So far Scotland has delivered and I’ve managed to spend a ton of days in the hills both for work and play.
Here’s a shot from dropping into position to shoot .johnson.climbing on his quad eight project in tough shooting conditions - all the buttons on the camera froze but fortunately the record button was already recording!
Currently deep in the edit cave, but there’s exciting edits coming!

Last year, during our project in the Hebrides, we saw that the Aurora forecast was high, but did not bargain for such a magical display. Stepping out of the van, we spotted faint flickering lights in the north, quickly grabbing our cameras, we hit record, and as if on cue, the sky burst into a breathtaking array of colours. For hours, we were mesmerised by the swirling green hues above us, a reminder of the incredible beauty surrounding us if we step outside to see it. It was a moment that took us back to the early days, rekindling the thrill and wonder of what can be captured through the lens of a camera. #northernlights #outerhebrides #nature #photography
