SOLID MEDIA is looking to expand its roster of FREELANCE CAMERA (VIDEO) ASSISTANTS to work on filming jobs over the coming months. It’s paid entry-level shifts to assist with filming broadcast quality video content on location. You’ll already have an interest in cameras and filming, you're looking to learn more and want to gain experience in the field. It’s easy to be cynical about before it’s even started. At Solid Media we've spent the last few years working on over 20 films and programmes with 100+ interviewees and contributors on climate-focussed content and campaigns that have reached millions in every corner of the globe - all in preparation for our home city of Glasgow hosting the most important conference in our planet's history.

We've learned a lot in that time. Yes, it’s easy to be cynical but there are also incredible people in every country working tirelessly on a daily basis to find the solutions that will secure the health of our planet for the future. This is our opportunity to support them.

So, to all our clients, contributors and collaborators, welcome to Glasgow and good luck. If you need anything just ask and we hope this is the moment we’ve all been waiting for.

It's interesting to see what Austria's main broadcaster, ORF, focussed on when Solid Media recently helped them produce a travel programme about Edinburgh - "Mein Edinburgh". Thanks to everyone who co-operated and contributed to the show. It really shows off our capital at its best.

The World was meant to come to Glasgow this month for COP26, the biggest diplomatic conference in the country's history and the single most important meeting to address the climate crisis that the world has ever seen. Covid 19 postponed it until Nov 2021 but Solid Media is delighted to have worked with the University of Edinburgh to bring together 30 experts from across the globe for COP26Cast, a series of virtual discussion programmes that have helped keep the debate alive and minds focused. Chaired by Rachel McTavish and curated by the University of Edinburgh Business School team, the programmes have already had 150,000 views in the first week and continue to grow.

Contributions from leading academics, the UK Government, the Scottish Government, the COP26 team, The Met Office, business leaders, campaigners and scientists.

In August and September we’ve been working with the Producer of “Fleabag” as well as Steve Coogan, Sara Pascoe, Tobias Menzies, Deborah Frances White and Rosie Jones, to create the Shedinburgh Fringe Festival. Due to social distancing restrictions, the Solid Media team was restricted to two (Paul Hughes and Jack Thomson) who worked alongside the exceptionally talented theatre producers (Francesca Moody and Harriet Bolwell) who instigated and curated the festival. This core team created and transmitted 26 theatrical performances in the month where the Edinburgh Festivals would have taken place. Paul and Jack shot the shows, sound recorded, directed, edited, dubbed, graded, produced graphics, managed streams and transmitted the live content for the 26 show run. Thanks also to the Traverse Theatre, Soho Theatre and the amazing Michelle Mangan PR for her help throughout www.shedinburgh.com

The lockdown stopped many projects but also saw an increased demand for broadcast and corporate streaming projects, working with some great talent including; Eamonn Homes, Carol Smillie, Alastair Stewart, Brendan Rodgers, Richard Arnold, Colin McCredie and, of course, Rachel McTavish.
