Today marks 50 years since the SFA lifted the ban on women’s football - which they formally imposed on the game in 1949 - although the ban had already been informally upheld in Scotland since the English FA imposed ban in 1921.
Fortunately women refused to be silenced and continued to play football, despite all the barriers put in place.
We are proud to have played a small part in the fight for equality for women, making landmark films about some of the incredible pioneers who refused to bow down to blatant discrimination and actively campaigned against it, paving the way for others in the game.
It’s a day to salute the trailblazers. And there are so many more women, with incredible stories, that need to be heard.
