Rogers Fatiya Rogers is a former band member of the King of Sungura Alick Macheso, he is multi talented musician who have a unique style of playing the Sungura music.

Sungura music is a fast beat usually composed of a lead guitar, one or two rhythm guitars, bass and the drum section. Sungura musical traits were borrowed from other genres like Kanindo and Rhumba music (Mushawevato 1989).

Shungu by Roggers Fatiya is a 2024 album that celebrates Zimbabwean cultural heritage while conveying messages of hope, resilience, gospel and social consciousness. The title Shungu—meaning “hope” or “determination” in Shona—sets the tone for an album that delves into themes of perseverance and the strength to overcome life’s challenges. Fatiya blends Afro-guitars and traditional Zimbabwean sungura sounds, showcasing his versatile vocal style and a deep connection to his roots.

Throughout Shungu, Fatiya’s lyrics touch on social issues, personal struggles, gospel themes and love, aiming to inspire and uplift listeners. The album combines rhythmic African percussion, smooth guitar melodies, and soulful harmonies, creating a soundscape that’s both authentic and fresh.
