Already a few sessions into 2025 but finally getting a moment to wish you all a Happy New Year and thank you for all the support during a massive 2024 for the studio! We have been busy over the festivities with some renovations here in the studio ready to welcome many new and returning Dystopians in 2025! 🌞

Fergus McCreadie - Pianist in the studio, getting set up on piano for Graham Costello's new album, recorded by Luigi Pasquini - Sound Engineer on a beautiful Yamaha Pianos grand piano ✨ Luigi and studio assistant Alyssa mic'd up the piano with paired Earthworks Audio QTC40s, a pair of Coles 4838 and Schoeps Colette stereo set to catch every nuance of Fergus' playing 🎹✨ Can you spot the secret microphone Luigi used as a magnifying glass to capture the sound of the prepared piano?

Setting up for a mega session with ace drummer and composer Graham Costello, returning to Dystopia to record his new album with Luigi Pasquini - Sound Engineer. For the drums parts, Luigi used around 25 microphones to capture the beautiful takes Graham played, and to make sure no details were lost in the process - also making sure there were no phase issues at all!
Graham and Luigi have been long term collaborators, working together most recently on Cahill Costello's newly released double album 'II'. Graham brought in an awesome line up of musicians for this session, more pictures coming soon!

Stoked to have electronic artist and soundtrack composer Blanck Mass and team in the studio recording with Luigi Pasquini - Sound Engineer. Luigi used paired early 2000's vintage Oktava MK 012s in a ORTF set up to provide the recording with a beautiful wide stereo image, ideal for an immersive three dimensional soundtrack 🎧

I just updated my Spotify Portfolio playlist with a selection of the work I have done in the last few years. Small selection but hey it’s 10+ hours of music!

You can find there lots of artists I recorded, mixed, produced, mostly in my studio - which in the years became a playground for musicians 😄 (and me👽). A studio with a huge live room full of instruments, microphones and all sort of fun stuff:)

Making record for me is about fun, concentration, exploring chaos with a plan in mind, giving to the artists the possibility to express themselves and be part of that process. It is a big part of my life and I love sharing it with you, bunch of gabagools.
