“Conscious” is a hopeful and cinematic experience, taking us closer to understanding the strength and frailty of the human mind. The fund, for Scotland-based documentary directors, provides grants and tailored support for the early development and writing phase of a director's first or second feature-length documentary. We had the privilege of producing Marie's first documentary feature, the BAFTA-nominated Electric Malady. We're so excited to see what Marie produces next!

Our CEO and Producer Aimara Reques is very happy to be one of the mentors at this year’s ProPro - The Producers' Programme for Women. The initiative is run by the Austrian Film Institute in Vienna to empower female film producers. In the week-long international residential workshop (27th November-1st December), 17 participants will be matched with international producers and experts who will mentor them in group sessions, one-on-one meetings, and two follow-up meetings. Aimara is excited to meet ProPro 2023’s participants and to learn more about their projects! 🌟📝🎥

Set in a cabin in the middle of an Estonian woodland where a group of women meet to take a sauna, the film explores the way in which communion, meaningful conversation and laughter can not only enrich and uplift us, but help us to process and purge pain. We left the cinema feeling moved, cleansed and inspired to take a wild sauna! Congratulations to the team involved for their Documentary Award nomination.
Given the terrible situation currently unfolding in Gaza, we feel that Shurooq's story is more relevant and poignant than ever before. Shurooq is a third-generation refugee living in Deir El-Balah city, Gaza. In this film, 10 years ago, Shurooq was about to turn 15 and was struggling to strike a balance between dreams, imposed traditions, and the hard conditions of her society. We are desperately hoping that somehow Shurooq, Mia, and their families are safe, as well as the wonderful team that made this film happen including director Wesam Mousa and local fixer Samy Zyara. We hope for an end to these deeply difficult and distressing times; an end that embraces the best of humanity and goes against any form of revenge, violence, and the killing of innocent lives.
