It is the legend Kirk James birthday today!

We’ve been friends since about 1998 when I started doing backing tracks for him for his tribute show.

Since then there has never been anyone that I can depend on more whenever I need a helping hand. He’s a fiercely loyal friend. It helps that he can sing a bit too.😉

Over the years we’ve written and recorded several albums worth of material including this one “The Blame”. We had lots of fun shooting this video. It was fun to go a bit “Johnny Cash”.

Wishing nothing but the best for the great man today and everyday.

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐚𝐦 𝐈 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐝𝐢𝐝 𝐈 𝐠𝐞𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐭𝐨𝐝𝐚𝐲?

Last week I pushed myself out my comfort zone and recorded my first podcast! I was delighted to be a guest on Renata Cook’s amazing “Wealth Magnetism” podcast series. 🎙

I have to admit, after listening to her other incredible podcast guests, imposter syndrome did start to kick in but I’m so glad I did it and absolutely loved the experience!

So for all you lovely people like my good friend Mehalah, who I know rarely have the time to listen to a full podcast 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞’𝐬 𝐚 𝐟𝐞𝐰 𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐫𝐬...

* Started my career as a graduate trainee with ScottishPower. Roles included pricing analyst, electricity trader, marketing manager and project manager.
* I had the best boss ever when I moved to an Operational Programme Manager role with Scottish Telecom.
* Made redundant twice.
* Took time out to race yachts in the Caribbean.
* Gave up corporate when I had 3 kids under 2.
* Built several online businesses and found my love for networking and connecting people.
* Started Hazel McBride UK in February which pulls together all my skills I’ve acquired over the last 30 years.

The whole podcast experience was a great reminder for me about what experiences, good and bad, made me the person I am today. It reminded me that 𝐈 𝐡𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐰𝐚𝐲𝐬 𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐫𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐞𝐧 𝐢𝐭 𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧 𝐞𝐱𝐜𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐝𝐨 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐫.

Huge Happy Birthday to the legend that is Tim Jarvis aka Gothzilla.

We’ve been friends for about 20 years and he’s one of the most talented people I know.
Insanely gifted vocalist and frontman.
Always love seeing him play live.

Glasgow Taxis TV Commercial out today.

This was a fun one to do! Over the last few weeks I’ve been working with the brilliant David McKinnon at Proud Motion on the latest advert for Glasgow Taxis.

I produced the music for this. Recorded Elanisa’s vocal a couple of weeks ago.
It’s been a quick turn around and an absolute pleasure to work on.

Sooo…no I’m not opening a restaurant!?

A wee April Fool’s post yesterday for those of you maybe not reading the entire (ridiculous) post.

Delighted to announce that after months of preparation and secret negotiations I will be opening my own restaurant!

“Gregorio’s” will be the best of local and international cuisine. From freshly-caught Salmon from the River Tay to Bulgarian Lukanka-there is no end to the lengths we will go to to source the finest and freshest produce.

Obviously, due to my musical background there will be live entertainment. Themed nights will be a specialty. From our “Mexican Cage Fighting” night (combatants compete for the “Golden Taco”) to our “Flamenco, Fire and Forbidden Fruit” night(that one’s a secret!). There’s going to be some wild and crazy experiences for customers and staff alike!

Opening in May, Gregorio’s will be situated downstairs from my studio on West Regent Street. So, in theory, you could go for a meal and begin recording a podcast series between courses!

So excited to welcome you all there!

Authenticity is everything.

Me and Kate go waaaay back. 😉
Except we don’t.

Trust is a very delicate thing.
Your audience (your customers) need to believe you when you communicate with them. They need to believe in the messages you’re sending out.

In the age of AI,how do we even know if who we’re talking to IS who we’re talking to?

The absolute media hysteria over the Kate Middleton photo has once again sparked much debate over the authenticity of the stories that we’re told from supposedly “trusted sources”.

In a world filled with “fake news”, the importance of honesty and genuine interactions with your audience is paramount to establishing a brand that can withstand the scrutiny of an increasingly media-savvy audience.

So…

Keep your messaging clear.
Know who you’re talking to.
And above all…
Tell the truth.
We can spot a fake a mile off.

Where do you market?
Where is your audience?

After the Meta outage yesterday, I think it’s important to stress the importance of an Omni-channel marketing approach.

Relying solely on one or two platforms to reach your audience/clients leaves you totally exposed should this kind of thing happen.

Everyone I know was messaging me on LinkedIn yesterday in a panic.

So what’s the answer?

➡️Keep multiple lines of communication open with your audience.

➡️Stay in regular contact on those platforms

➡️ Don’t get complacent about your audience. Keep building and consolidating.

I’m so excited to share this news with you all.
I spent Saturday afternoon in Frielance Music studio recording the first episodes of my brand new Podcast series.
