Gozza's Greedy Goblet II: The Battle of Detling
January 19, 2025, saw the picturesque village of Detling transformed into a cauldron of excitement as The Greedy Goblet II brought together 26 determined Blood Bowl coaches and their teams. Organised by myself (Gozza), the event was a dazzling spectacle of strategy, sportsmanship, and no small amount of chaos. Despite a few absences (we see you, Papa Nurgle), the event was filled with unforgettable moments and legendary performances.
Glory on the Pitch
🥇 MisspelledTree led her Vampires, the Who Bat, to a flawless victory, winning all four matches and amassing an impressive 11 touchdowns. Her dominance earned her the coveted first place trophy, a fully painted Vampire team donated and painted by Mark, and the admiration of all.
🥈 Primhak and his Humans, the Arurent Bobbies, marched with discipline and determination, claiming second place. Their efforts were rewarded with a brand-new Chaos Dwarf team, generously sponsored by Cataclysm Games.
💀 Most Deadly Team: Parzival's Undead, the Graveyard Champs, were a relentless force, prioritising destruction over touchdowns. They secured the award for the day’s deadliest team, leaving a trail of broken players in their wake.
👹 Best Devious Stunties: Malawicichlid's Goblins, A Zold Gep, proved small but mighty, delivering a performance filled with daring plays and goblin trickery.
🎖️ Greedy Goblet Award: OurTopNinja, a tournament newcomer with his Amazons, the Ninjas Amazons, brought unshakable determination and earned the “Pat the Spat” trophy for his valiant effort.

The Chronicles of the Greedy Goblet II
The sun barely pierced through the gloom as the Greedy Goblet II kicked off in spectacular fashion. Twenty-six teams, representing a kaleidoscope of bloodthirsty races and strategic minds, converged on the pitch for glory, gore, and the coveted title of champion. Each coach brought their A-game, with cunning strategies, polished minis, and relentless ambition.
Round 1: The Opening Frenzy
The tournament began with a flurry of action as MisspelledTree's Who Bat Vampires swept past Will Gotrek’s Zombie Night Crawl with a commanding 2–0 victory. On another pitch, Jez Potter’s Axlotl Dragons stunned Malawicichlid’s A Zold Gep with a 3–1 scoreline, displaying their agility and poise.
Meanwhile, the battle between Dinlo’s P-Orc Pies and Mr Bobnot’s Monster Mash highlighted early resilience. Despite a tough 0–2 loss, Dinlo’s Orcs refused to yield entirely, inflicting one casualty against Mr Bobnot’s horrors.
The standout carnage of the round came when Parny’s Yeyo’s Humies obliterated HeffyElJefe’s Waaaghshington Stompas, not just with a 2–0 win but with a staggering 5 casualties to HeffyElJefe’s 2. Parny’s ruthless efficiency set a high bar for brutality.
Round 2: Rising Tensions
As the day progressed, favourites began to emerge. MisspelledTree continued their dominant run, dismantling Jez Potter 4–1 in a game that left the crowd buzzing. On another field, Primhak’s Arurent Bobbies proved too much for EyeballPaul’s Volcanic Raptors, claiming a decisive 3–1 victory.
The most brutal clash of Round 2 unfolded between Blitzy’s Chorfkreig and Dinlo’s P-Orc Pies. Despite Dinlo’s desperate attempts to hold the line, Blitzy’s Chaos Dwarfs stormed ahead with 3 casualties that left the Orcs licking their wounds.
Elsewhere, Star Ferret’s Salad Daze emerged as a quiet contender, sweeping past Tofu’s El Malos Mariachi with a clean 2–0 victory, cementing the Wood Elves as a team to watch.
Round 3: Guts and Glory
As fatigue set in, the games grew fiercer. Malawicichlid and Salacious Bob Crumb clashed in a brutal melee that saw 6 casualties inflicted by A Zold Gep—the highest of the round. Despite the carnage, the Spooky Elves managed only one touchdown in return.
In a dramatic upset, Bonethugsnoharmony’s Red Roots edged out Mr Bobnot’s Monster Mash 1–0, with the Wood Elves dancing around the Necromantic defence and dealing 2 key casualties in the process. Meanwhile, the high-octane clash between Parzival’s Graveyard Champs and Genyz’s Gnome Mercy ended in a chaotic 1–1 draw, with 5 casualties on Parzival’s side dominating the post-match chatter.
Not all was blood and touchdowns—Skullz’s Sewer Boyz held Primhak to a low-scoring 2–0 game but struggled to counter the Humans’ overwhelming might, suffering 4 casualties in the process.
Round 4: The Final Stretch
The final round saw champions rise and others crumble. MisspelledTree’s Who Bat Vampires secured their crown with a 2–0 victory over Bonethugsnoharmony, maintaining their unbeaten streak throughout the tournament. The Vampires’ ability to dominate both the scoreboard and the pitch ensured their ascension to first place.
On another pitch, Star Ferret’s Salad Daze continued their stellar form with a 3–1 win over EyeballPaul, ensuring a strong finish for the nimble Wood Elves. Primhak, however, proved unshakable, securing second place with a clutch 2–1 victory over MiniMorg’s Cuety Deadtooty in a nail-biter of a match.
Notable performances included Blitzy, whose Chaos Dwarfs showed grit in a 1–1 draw with Jez Potter, and Dinlo’s Orcs, who redeemed themselves with a solid 2–1 win over Malawicichlid’s Goblins.

Total Casualties: 104, with standout contributions from Parzival, Malawicichlid, Skullz, and Parny.
