Fancy making 1000 scones a day for that famous afternoon tea at the Ritz and having 65 chefs to manage? Well that's just what Executive Head Chef at The Ritz, John Williams MBE, does as part of his daily work. We were thrilled to share in just a few of his experiences as he talked about his journey in conversation with Mike Ducket from Coachingforsuccess at today's networking in Gerrard's Cross. Awesome. Mike Ducket gave us a fascinating talk today that had little to do with coaching psychology, his specialist area, but all too do with the microbiome, that is the entire collection of microorganisms in a specific niche. Sounds very scientific but Mike made it all make interesting sense and left us wondering who indeed is driving the bus? One of the most valuable things about business networking with #Businessconnexions at Gerrards Cross is the diverse range of knowledge and expertise shared amongst the members. This was a definitely a talk I shall remember for a long time ahead. :) Charterhouse (Accountants) LLP - HR Downing IP Amodeo Web Design PJ van Zetten - Travel Counsellors, Beaconsfield, UK addhruk Chiltern Chamber of Commerce
You've got to have a look at this, keep watching to the end for an image that will stay for ever! We were treated to a great talk at Business Connexions this week from Phillip Sheahan on how to speak on any subject at the drop of a hat, and how to make sure you are remembered for the right reasons when you speak at any meeting, particularly networking meetings perhaps. Phillip shared: Having the tools, be that photoshop or a saw doesn't make you a great photographer or great carpenter. His illustration was based on hairdressing, he explained having a template (pudding bowl) and a tools (pair of scissors) didn't seem to make people keen on letting him cut their hair. In a few weeks time Mike Duckett will be talking about how to identify your ideal business referral, a valuable development from this week's exposition. Well done Phillip. Occupational Driving statistics shared by Chris Stops revealed that in 2018 there were 1782 fatalities relating to road users, be that car drivers, cyclists, motorcyclists or pedestrians, and of that number 777 were accidents involving cars.
The main issues causing accidents were:
Distraction, through things such as mobile phones,
Fatigue,
Not leaving enough time, so in a hurry, and
Physical or legal conditions such as worn tyres.
Chris went on to discuss methods of reducing risks, in particular for drivers out on company business, but relevant to all drivers including policies on using mobile phones, route and diary planning to ensure realistic hours are given to travel and work, and offering awareness training for employees.
A really interesting talk which created an energic discussion - but nothing new for a Business Connexions meeting where local businesses are supported and helped to grow through mutual knowledge and connections.
If you'd like to know more about membership, please get in touch.
Many thanks for a good discussion this morning on the Business Connexions brand and on line presence, Nigel from Amodeo Web Design shared his knowledge and the group took part with ideas on how to improve networking for businesses. One of the main conclusions was that the group has a genuine #corporatesocialresponsibility aiming to help smaller businesses put something back into the local community through events such as the upcoming charity golf day Chartridge Park Golf Club on the 20th September and various activities throughout the year supporting, at the moment, Wycombe Homeless Connection Not only is there great business to be shared, but support through both bad and good times from people who don't just say they care.... like to know more, well get in touch because we have a guest day on 26th September and are looking for new faces to meet.
Excellent talk from photographer Richard Shymansky this morning showcasing his recent work for the group, and annoucing a new app to share with friends and potential contacts - watch this space, sounds an awesome idea, Richard! Charterhouse Accountants Ltd Chiltern Chamber of Commerce
What an inspiring meeting; when asked to share with the group something we may not know about each others' businesses we came up with a wonderful array of good news. David White from Charterhouse Accountants Ltd told us about the launch of the Charterhouse Foundation to help put back into the community and good causes - an idea that was developed by the internal marketing focus group at their Harrow offices. Darrin Salt told us about their 'Best Business Woman Award' aimed at helping to recognise female entrepreneurs and experts in the IT sector and Martin Parkes from the Massage Spa revealed that he was working with Mark Lutitt to prepare him for a London to Brighton Cycle Ride.
