Butterfly Steps is a start-up community project which would involve and seeking in volunteers sharing their skills (particularly media and creative but not restricted to that) with young people in the local area who for whatever reason find themselves unable to get into work. Future aspirations include finding a building allocated to the project with a butterfly room to allow a tranquil room, spac
e open for all despite background and income and giving audio clips for people hard of hearing. Volunteers have to be 18 years and over but can reach to all aspects of the community. In order to get started, we need volunteers to enable to happen. Paid experience isn’t necessary, just passion for the project and role. Marketing Volunteers- In order to get this project of the ground, we need to promote the project. Anyone who has experience in social media, marketing/pr, web design and journalism would be great. Roles would include creating an online marketing strategy for the project , creating a link with local press/organizations and creating a website. Volunteer Co-Ordinators-The role would be finding volunteers for the project and searching for places to hold community events. Experience of volunteer management would be benefical but not essential. Empathy would be essential but a knowledge of the local area necessary. Skills Volunteers -Anyone who is willing to offer any skill or passion they have. Any skill would be good but anything related media and creative would be preferable and must be something that is feasible to teach with little resources It has to be a skill which could be useful in some way for helping people to gain future employment Qualifications aren’t necessary but a knowledge and passion for the skill would be essential . Fundraising Volunteers. In order to ensure community project funding, we eventually need a team of people who can help arrange funding for spaces and teaching resources. Anyone who is will to fundraise for Butterfly Steps, who is willing to give suggestions of funding resources or simply suggest sponsors, please let me know. Production Volunteers- A side project of Butterfly Steps would be to create audio news of any kind recordings for the blind and the hard of hearing in the local area. Anyone who is willing to do this in their spare time would be great. Experience with audio production, with audio recording equipment and awareness of local and national current affairs would be essential. Anyone with a passion of specific knowledge e.g science, the arts or entertainment would be helpful
