🌟 Heartbreak in Mudeford: Preschool Faces Eviction After 37 Years 🌟

Mudeford Wood Preschool, a cherished part of the community for nearly four decades, has been told it must leave Mudeford Wood Community Centre by July 2025.

The trustees of the Community Centre claim the preschool has failed to meet fire and safety regulations and breached legal agreements. In a statement, they said:
🗨️ *“It is of important note that Mudeford Wood Community Trust (MWCT) Trustees have a legal obligation to ensure compliance for the safety and well-being of all Hirers of the Mudeford Wood Community Centre.

“The Pre-school’s behaviour, its impact upon all Centre hirers and their users, plus their refusal to comply with the law and their legally enforceable obligations put the Centre in jeopardy and at risk of immediate closure by the statutory authorities. This would impact everyone that hires or uses the Centre and could no longer be tolerated.”*

Preschool Manager Emily Hernon has strongly denied the claims, stating:
🗨️ *“I was heartbroken and dismayed to read the baseless allegations made in their statement, and I feel it is necessary to address them immediately.

“Our absolute priority is your children’s safety and wellbeing, so the Trust’s statement that we are breaking Health and Safety and Fire Regulations was very upsetting.

“I want to assure you that we do NOT break any statutory Health and Safety or Fire Regulations. We are heavily regulated by Ofsted and the DfE, and we have Ofsted Inspections and regular visits from the Early Years Team at BCP to ensure that we are meeting all statutory requirements.”*

The decision has provoked frustration among parents and locals. Christchurch resident Darren Webb said on Facebook:
🗨️ “Why would a local community trust want to do such an un-community thing? We are all living in a time where all communities need to come together. More so now than ever. Staggers belief.”

The Trust intends to seek a new care provider to hire the space and offer “a superior service to that currently provided with a 52-week wrap-around facility.”
