Today's sees LNG Industry jetting off to Germany ✈️

Following the start of the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Germany had to find sufficient alternative supplies of natural gas and establish the infrastructure to access these alternative supplies.

In June 2022, Worley was awarded an EPC contract to deliver one of Germany’s five new FSRUs, to be supplied by Höegh Evi.

Challenges in the construction of a newly planned jetty for the FSRU triggered an early switch to the plan, which was to modify the existing oil and LPG import berth at Brunsbüttel port.

The solution was to take a very different approach to the ex*****on sequence usually seen in other large projects, and instead involved working out of sequence and using backward engineering based on the accessibility of crucial components.

It's Tuesday again, which can mean only one thing: it's time for another hashtag post from LNG Industry! ✈️

This Tuesday, we’re travelling to the USA 🇺🇸

In a Q&A with LNG Industry, Glenfarne Energy Transition, LLC recently spoke about the company’s latest projects, Texas LNG and Magnolia LNG, and discussed the growing importance of LNG.

Glenfarne has fully sold-out Texas LNG to partners including EQT Corporation, Macquarie Group, and Gunvor Group and appointed Kiewit ConstructionCompany to deliver the project under a lump sum fully wrapped arrangement.

Magnolia LNG has a 30% lower emissions footprint than other greenfield projects, and Texas LNG’s ‘Green by Design’ approach is designed to avoid carbon dioxide emissions through the use of electric motor drives – once in operation, it is anticipated to produce less than half the emissions of a standard LNG project.

It’s Friday which means it’s time for the from LNG Industry! 💥

This week we have an article for you from our latest January issue, titled ‘Achieving agility: Fast-tracking alternative gas supplies for Germany’, by Paul Hughes and Andy Loose, Worley, in which they detail how an FSRU was operationalised in less than 9 months to help secure Germany’s LNG supply and reduce dependency on Russia. 🇩🇪

The article discusses how working out of sequence and using backward engineering based on the accessibility of critical components, as well as innovative thinking such as using helicopters and large Antonov cargo aircraft to deliver key components more quickly to site, helped put this in place in such a small timeframe.

It's Tuesday again, which can mean only one thing: it's time for another post from LNG Industry! ✈️

This Tuesday, we’re travelling to Germany 🇩🇪

Svanehøj was called to an offshore installation vessel after the crew in Germany discovered a leak in a fuel pump during bunkering.

By activating its deepwell pump equipped with a foot valve system, the company’s service engineer identified the issue and began repairs within just three hours.

Without the foot valve system, the fuel tank would have needed to be emptied and rendered gas-free before the pump could be extracted – and could have taken several days instead.

🌱 A bio-LNG first for Spain 🌱

United European Car Carriers has performed the first-ever truck-to-ship refuelling operation of bio-LNG in Spain. 🇪🇸

At the Port of Vigo, bio-LNG supplied by Naturgy from a biomethane production plant in the surrounding Galicia province was pumped directly from a tanker truck into the tanks of UECC’s multi-fuel LNG battery hybrid pure car and truck carrier, Auto Advance.

🇦🇪 CB&I awarded contract by TJN Ruwais LNG JV for LNG project in Abu Dhabi 🇦🇪

CB&I has been awarded a substantial lump sum contract by TJN Ruwais JV for EPC of two tanks and associated civil, structural, mechanical, and piping works for its Ruwais LNG project.

Under the contract, CB&I will deliver two 180 000 m³ full containment concrete LNG , including all piping and civil infrastructure.

CB&I’s construction activities are expected to commence in November 2025, with project completion targeted in early 2028.
