The name of the legendary American singer, songwriter and keyboardist Gregg Allman has always been associated, deservedly so, to some of the greatest moments in music history of this century, either with the Allman Brothers Band or as a bandleader. After seven years since his passing and straight from the artist's personal archive, arrives a 1983 live performance from the Gregg Allman's Band recorded at the coastal town of Hull, MA, where Allman and Co. bring back the magic, on many parts of the show, of the Allman Brothers Band in exceptional style and class. After a short break for our summer holidays, Bluebird Reviews is back once again to business, this time, with a review concerning the 1971's Carnegie Hall Concert by the late great Jazz pianist, harpist and bandleader Alice Coltrane, John Coltrane's second wife. Now finally released in its entirety, the 1971 concert displays an artist at the peak of her career, while also shifting into a new musical direction with enormous musicianship and forward-thinking musical vision. In 2021, at Bluebird Reviews we decided to honour the career of one of the greatest Blues players ever lived by awarding John Mayall with the Lifetime Career Award. Although Mayall was not able to release a formal statement about the Award, he was gracious enough to send to our website a photo of him holding the Award.
It's an irreplaceable loss for the whole of the music industry, Mayall's millions of fans and, above all, his family and close friends.
Our deepest condolences to Mayall and all those who have admired and loved his many artistic talents and shared some very precious life moments with him.
