Last week Olivia and Lydia headed to Dairy-tech to catch up with media, clients and other industry contacts. 🐮🌾

During a political seminar, Tom Bradshaw revealed his open letter to the Treasury, signed by more than 50 key food industry businesses, urging a rethink on the family farm tax. The letter, involving businesses with a combined turnover of over £7bn - included major supermarkets and suppliers like Muller and Arla – and warned of the risk to food supply chains and food security.

Later in the day Lydia attended a seminar on labour shortages within the sector, where she heard from Paul Harris from Real Success, a personal favourite takeaway of hers was when he urged employers to focus on the positives: “Yes, 16% of farmers may be trying to get out of the industry, but that means 84% are not.”

The day concluded with the presentation of the Gold Cup 2024! 🏆 We are thrilled to announce that Harper Adams University's Future Farm was awarded this prestigious accolade. We look forward to hearing more from Kate Robinson and her team in future editions of British Dairying!
