Sound Gallery CIC is a social enterprise, community interest company founded in 2007 by social entrepreneur, musician and producer Grice Peters and a team of driven and experienced musicians, educators and technicians. Sound Gallery runs a professional recording studio with recording, mixing, mastering and music production facilities and rehearsal spaces at Exeter Phoenix in the cultural heart of the city.

Our Mission
Sound Gallery is dedicated to the development of original creative works produced by talented musicians and to the provision of music-making and training opportunities, especially for young people aged 12-25 years who are at risk of exclusion and at risk of social and rural isolation and especially those with mental health issues, special educational needs a
Our Theory of Change
We provide music-making and training opportunities for young people who live in challenging circumstances, which aim to build up their confidence and improve their life skills. This increases their employability and opportunities to reach their full potential in life.
Our Social Objectives include the following:
Fostering a sense of achievement & worth: providing performance and recording opportunities as an integral part of music projects aimed at young people, resulting in a tangible product/collective experience and a sense of pride at what has been achieved.
Increasing creativity: providing opportunities for young people to create their own music in a supportive and professional environment whilst nurturing, developing and promoting their music.
Furthering education & career progression: providing a wide range of affordable professional and vocational training courses for young people, in multiple aspects of music creation and production.

Sound Gallery CIC is delivery partners in the #Focus5 project which is funded by the European Social Fund and the National Lottery Community Fund. This project aims to help some of the South West’s most vulnerable young people to make positive steps towards education, employment and training. #Focus5 project provides bespoke support to young people aged 15-18 across the South West who are unemployed or out of education but who demonstrate a genuine desire to change their lives for the better.
Sound Gallery’s role in this project is to deliver the Access to SiMPTI (Standards in Music Production Technology and Industry) a programme designed to provide music-making activities for young people who are 'at risk of social exclusion'. As part of this programme, Sound Gallery provides music-making activities for young people who are 15-18 years old, live in Devon, are at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and helps them regain their confidence and make a positive change in their lives. Sound Gallery's Access to SiMPTI programme uses music as a means of re-engaging young people with the world and teaches them social and work related skills in order to increase their confidence, improve their chances of reaching their full potential and increase their chances of finding employment.
Access to SiMPTI includes the following activities:
- Recording Studio Experiences
- Music Technology Courses
- Audio recording and music production courses
- Advice sessions on pathways and careers in the music industry
- Social Media for the Modern Musician sessions
- Portfolio, CV and presentation skills
Sound Gallery CIC also runs a bespoke work experience programme (SiMPTI) for 15-19 year olds who are keen to pursue a career in the music industry. www.simpti.com
