Two years ago in Autumn, I took my iPad to sketch in the Hidcote National Trust garden. I've realised I like to work in a cyclical nature; starting personal pieces one year, and generally coming back to them the following year around the same time, or perhaps different seasons with long breaks inbetween.
And I keep doing that until the work is finished.
Like a garden this means my work grows year on year, sometimes a piece is disguarded if it isn't working for me, and I keep working on the stronger pieces or the ones that interest me the most. Working like his means I have the time and space I need to consider what the work needs. It's also how I like to work on my garden.

Thinking more about abstract art this week and how it affects us in our spaces has been interesting. I wonder if it's possibly more adaptable to changing spaces/moving houses or different rooms? (I'm moving in about a week).
.
Abstract art emits a mood or a feeling - which all work does, but maybe some subjects are better for the kitchen, or bedroom? Abstract pieces can be about colour and feeling and so perhaps that makes them more adaptable. What do you think? I guess there is no right or wrong, apart from how it feels to you personally.
.
This piece is called 'OUTCROP'. I love the textures in this abstract seascape. You can see the whole piece through the linl below:

.
And the online show will end tomorrow (December 10th) at 9pm GMT. Thanks again for all the kind words and comments.
.
I'm hoping to send out the recording of the Live Preview launch to my newsletter subscribers, but may need to wait till after our house move!

This painting is called 'The Walk Home'. It's a small work at 4 x 6 inches on thick card. And part of my Interior/Exterior collection I've been discussing more over on @sarahpapworthart
.
This piece began as an abstract piece then only became houses right at the end. After the painting had sat for a while and I was able to look at it afresh, I felt a real sense of home - which may be obvious seeing as they are houses. But more like when you've been out for a long walk and it's cold and getting dark and you come into the warmth. And in the wider emotional context of coming home to yourself. Of having spent the time really learning to understand yourself and that feeling of being home wherever you go.
.
I think art has the potential to contribute to emotional wellbeing. The painting may offer comfort during challenging times and act as a joyful reminder during moments of celebration, providing a consistent source of emotional support. I know art that means something for me has done this exact thing so I fully believe in this.
.
Only 2 days left to purchase any of the Interior/Exterior Collection of original paintings on my Website - link in bio.
.
I'm also about to send out a reminder via email. If you're on my list double check your spam as I'm using a new email provider and my 'sent from' address is new too. ππ€

Can owning an abstract painting ignite a lifelong journey of artistic exploration and appreciation?
.
Maybe the joy of seeing the real brush strokes for yourself, like your own private gallery would feel luxurious and special. The inspiration the work brings would perhaps become addictive, like tattoos, wanting to collect more? - maybe? Or it sparks interest in seeing other work in galleries to see how another artist used their tools to put paint onto a surface.
.
A friend of mine, who's partner bought her one of my semi-abstract paintings as a 40th birthday gift, told me that her family discusses what they can see in the painting. She loved being able to share her joy of the work with her children. I think possibly this could foster a love of art in them - they grow up enjoying and experiencing the work right there in their home and learn to feel comfortable discussing how they feel. Sharing opinions and ideas where nothing is right or wrong is probably quite a freeing experience.
.
What do you think?
.
The piece in this video is CORIOLIS. Here I've already fixed the mixed media I've used in the work and I'm giving it a layer of clear protective acrylic medium.
.
This work, along with 11 other original paintings are available on my website for another 3.5 days (until the 10th December 2023).
.
Feel free to message me about the work, email at [email protected] or DM me. We can zoom or do a home visit if you're local to Honeybourne in the West Midlands.

My partner and I are moving house in a couple of weeks, and I'm looking forward to starting afresh - in the hope that I can grow more intentional in my way of living by decluttering further. (Harder said than done being an artist with lots of art materials).
.
Carrying out simple meditative practises that bring more awareness to how I feel in the moment, have changed the way I feel about my days overall since living here. Washing-up has even gotten better!
.
One of the things I'm looking forward to with the move is hanging the paintings I love. I want to enjoy my home more. It's a form of meditation. Stopping to pause over the colours and textured brush strokes with a morning cup of tea in hand.
.
I know meditation helps me feel amazing, so anything that helps that state of mind, and makes it easier to do daily, is a no-brainer for me. I've also been fixing old frames so hopefully they will be ready to go soon.
.
In this reel is the original painting named; HARBOUR VIEW. The textures are worth seeing close up. And this piece in particular makes me feel as though I'm kind of standing in the painting looking at the abstract view.
.
ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE UNTIL THE 10TH DECEMBER 2023 ON MY WEBSITE.
.
To see more of this piece, and the whole collection, go to my link in bio, or here https://sarahpapworth.com/interiorexterior

This is me starting work on my kitchen wall on one of the pieces I will be sharing in my original painting collection 'Interior/Exterior'.
The inspiration behind the work is water and emotions. I'm interested in how water represents, evokes and mimics our emotional state and how we seem drawn to water for balance and wellbeing.
When I started wild swimming in my local lake, it felt like a spiritual retreat (and still does). Both healing and inspiring. It was like the water had memory of me and welcomed me back each time, working its magic to bring me back to a balanced place.

Hello, this is me, working away. I thought I'd give a re-introduction for those that are newer on my page.
.
I'm a freelance textile designer and illustrator originally from Surrey, now living on the North Cotswold border in the UK. I started painting more frequently again perhaps a year before Covid lockdown. I used to paint almost everyday when I was younger, and when I went to university to study fine art, I decided to switch to textile design. Which may sound strange? - but I've always had an equal love for print/pattern and art, and maybe I wasn't quite ready for the art world at the age of 18.
.
While painting abstract pieces now, I really connect with the Zen philosophy which emphasizes being fully present in the current moment.
I believe that being fully in my body (and not distracted), taking full deep breaths, allows me to slow down, enjoy the process and tune into my intuition more easily as I work.
.
I'd love for you to follow my journey over the next week or so as I lead up to launching a collection of original paintings.
.
My Preview which will take place online is on the 1st December 2023 at 7pm. Preview invitations are available to those on my mailing list. You can sign up on my website: https://sarahpapworth.com
I'd love to see you there and chat about my work and processes.
