Busy day for me today!

Visited the lovely ladies (and David) at Silver Birch at BHGS to find out a bit more about the business for an upcoming article for the Evesham Noticeboard Recommended April Newsletter.

Had a lovely time meeting the team, learning about their history, and also found out about their upcoming events including a coffee morning on the 12th April for GOSH.

I particularly enjoyed watching how the team creates beautiful flower tributes for funerals like the one in the attached photo (yes it's meant to be upside down as the team were still working on it!)

The fun didn't stop there and this afternoon, I sat down with Katie from Evesham Noticeboard Recommended to discuss content for April's newsletter.

The newsletter is due to go out the first week of April - you can also check out the March edition on the Evesham noticeboard website.

The newsletter is a celebration of all the good things that happen in Evesham (no bad news allowed!), if you are a member or a charity and would like a mention - give me a shout!!

Tap if you agree ♥️

Your audience doesn't buy your product or service because of its features. They buy it because they envision how it will change their lives for the better.

It might be a passive income course that will allow her to make more money and spend more time with her family.

It could be fitness coaching to help her feel more confident in herself and help her keep up with her children.

It could be therapy to put painful relationships behind her so she can move on and find the happy relationship she deserves!

Go beyond the product or service you offer and think about her needs and wants.

Speak to those and you won't go far wrong!

Using just one of these story starter prompts helped me get over 27000 views on LinkedIn and if it worked for me it can work for you too.

Here's how to use these story starters ⬇️

1. Pick one

2. Write your story by explaining what happened and how it happened

3. Also include why, when and anything you learned from your story

4. And don't forget to add a call to action at the end.

Save this one for later and follow for more marketing tips

You wouldn't believe the number of times I've heard this!

And it's a huge mistake that could be costing your business sales - which is the last thing you want.

As a business you should have a target audience or ideal client that you market too. They should also be at the forefront of your decision making when it comes to creating your offer or service or making changes in your business.

So who is your target audience? Here's how to find out.

Answer these questions,
👉 Are they men, women, non binary etc.
👉 Are they teens, people in 20s, 30s or oaps (millennials, gen X etc)
👉 Are they parents, single, separated?
👉 How much disposable income do they have?
👉 Where do they live?
👉 Do they work and what do they do?
👉 What are their interests?
👉 What do they want? (Needs or desires)
👉 What is stopping them from achieving it?

From these questions you can build a clearer picture of your ideal customer in your mind leading to better marketing and improved offers that they want.

Hope this helped you. Please like and follow for more.

It's Blue Monday today and for a lot of people that means re-evaluating their job and career.

If you are someone who's thinking about taking the leap into a new career or starting your own business but are afraid of what might happen, this quote is for you.

No one ever achieved anything new without trying something new and no one can truly change their life if they stay as they are.

So don't be afraid, dream of the possibilities and take that leap!

I love autumn. It's my favourite time of year.

My boots are out, my autumn wax burner scents are ready to go and my thoughts are starting to turn towards prep for the festive season.

I also see September as a bit of a fresh start and a chance for new opportunities - a reset if you will.

So its the perfect time to do a quick refresh of your website copy - particularly if it's been a while since you last looked at it.

The main function of a website is to persuade your ideal client to buy from you. If they aren't doing that then you may be missing something.

But analysing your own website is easier said than done so here's some guidance for you

I've put together 6 questions your website should answer - things your ideal clients will want answered when they visit your webpage.

Work through each one in turn and hopefully they'll inspire you to make some changes to increase your conversions.

Stuck for content ideas?

You've heard that stories are king when it comes to content creation. But if you don't know where to start, I've got you covered.

I've given you 5 storytelling prompts you can use to write content for your business.

And no these aren't about imposter syndrome, your origin story or whatever other trend is currently circulating.

These story prompts will help you stand out from your competitors, so what are you waiting for.

So save for later, then pick one and let the creativity flow!

5 Storytelling Prompts to help you stand out from the crowd

1. September is the start of the new school year. What new things are you starting or trying this month?

2. It's a great time for setting new goals. What goals have you set in the past and have you achieved them? What did you learn from the experience?

3. It's a good time to meet new people and businesses. Share a story about how a fellow business owner you met has either inspired you or collaborated with you on a project.

4. The kids are back at school (yay). Thinking back to your school days, was there a teacher who inspired you or taught you an important life lesson that you live by to this day? Share your story.

5. Oh Snozzcumbers!!! The 13th September is Roald Dahl Day who is renowned for being the world's number 1 storyteller. Fun Fact - He wrote many stories from his garden shed. Where do you work from (share pics) and share how you came to choose your workplace? Or you could share where you go to escape and why.

I can't wait to see your stories so tag me in your comments when you share and let me know how you find these.

Is it just me?

Since returning from my holidays everywhere I look I see AI talked about.

✅ On tv news being used to detect and diagnose cancer and other conditions
⛔ Being touted as the be all and end all best thing since sliced bread
🙄 People selling prompts
👀 fully AI generated courses and workbooks.
And much more

Do you remember that apple advert from years back 'There's an app for that' ?

Well now it's been replaced with 'There's an AI for that'.

Like with all technologies I think there's a place for it but I worry for the future and the ethics of it.

And as the famous Jurassic park quote says, 'scientists were so preoccupied with whether they could, they never stopped to think whether they should'.

There's no substitute for truly high quality original human written content and that comes from your experiences... And your stories.

AI can't have experiences just knowledge that it hasn't earned for itself. We have to be careful with what it can do.

What do you think?

I had next to no internet whilst I was on holiday.

It was so frustrating as I'd taken my laptop to give me a headstart on some other work and keep in touch with clients, but I just couldn't get a signal.

Our holiday home was in the middle of nowhere and with no internet you'd think I'd be free of distractions. Even with this in mind, I just couldn't switch off and relax.

See that's what I was trying to do, have a break and relax whilst also catch up on a few tasks in the evenings when the kids were in bed.

But none of that happened and I felt stressed. I couldn't relax enough to read, couldn't stream anything and the TV signal was poor too.

It's so hard to completely disengage and relax and take time for yourself. It took me a few days to the point where I did stop stressing about everything.

I was in Blackpool at the time when I realised I wasn't feeling in the moment so I tried to refocus on where I was and what we were doing. I then felt I could enjoy myself.

We're back home now and I wish I'd made more of that time to actually relax. It's definitely a lesson and hopefully I can make time to relax more and take more time to do things I enjoy going forward.

If you want your messaging to be on point you need to have a defined audience.

It's not enough to say everyone is your audience. You need to drill down exactly who you are targeting.

What is their gender, age, income, living situation?

Where do they hang out, what do they like?

What do they want and why can't they achieve it?

Create content with 'them' in mind, answer their questions and offer insights into their problems and they'll start paying attention to you.

Wow is it that time already?

I'm now taking bookings for q3 and the autumn.

What's scary about this is that once we're into autumn we're basically on the countdown to Christmas. 😬

But before then I'm heading away for the week in August for a holiday with the family.

My boys also break up from school and nursery this week so that will be fun!

This is the face of a business owner.

A business owner who had to learn:

👉 How to start a business
👉 How to manage a business
👉 How to find clients
👉 How to juggle motherhood and her business
👉 How to manage her time
👉 How to maintain client relationships
👉 How to sell myself and my services

And also learn
🌸 Her self worth
🌸 To be confident in herself
🌸 To keep going no matter what and never give up.

Yes it's tough and I have days where I think it would be easier if I was employed.

But I also have days that I love, where I get to meet and work with people who are passionate about what they do. And where I love the work that I do.

I'm only in the first year of my business and it's been a rollercoaster of emotions but I'm so glad I took the leap.

Thank you for continuing to support me ❤️

It's the morning after the day before 🙃

Yesterday I went to villa park for the midlands business expo 23 for a fabulous day of networking and what a day it was.

I'm still exhausted, my feet ache but I made some new business friends.

Networking is a fantastic opportunity to meet other business owners and to swap experiences with others who share your industry.

It can lead to work and collaborations but mainly it's about extending your network and making new connections.

A lot of people make the mistake of trying to sell at networking and then they get disappointed when it doesn't 'work' but that's because they are doing it all wrong

In a way it's a bit like social media. People don't join to be sold to, they join for entertainment, for updates on things they're into and to learn.

Its about the community you build within your network.

Have you tried networking? Share your experiences below.

"I don't know what to post!"

That's what prospective clients tell me when we first meet.

Before our first chat, I'll normally pop onto their socials, their website and their blog (if they have one) to see what they currently have.

Now I'm no social media manager (nor do I try to be) but I like to look at a business's social media accounts as it gives me a really good feel for their business, their customers and also the community they've created.

Surprisingly, what I seem to find, is that very few businesses share their "story" on their blog or social media. If they have it's either buried in a very old post or if on the website is tucked away on an about page which hasn't been updated for a while.

Your origin story is one of the most powerful marketing tools that you have and it costs you nothing to tell. It helps your audience get to know you, helps them to relate to you and build trust. You've heard the cliche - "People buy from people they know like and trust" - it's a cliche for a reason - because it's true.

Your story could be the one thing that inspires your dream client to get in touch so what are you waiting for?

Tell your story - why did you get started, what challenges have you faced, what have you achieved and who have you helped? - you might be surprised with the response.

I love hearing business start-up stories and I'm sure I'm not alone. So go tell your story and comment/tag me when you do!

It's been a minute hasn't it?

How are you? Hope you had a great Christmas and New Year.

I spent most of December ill with one thing or another and missed about 2 weeks due to the flu.

So many people are or have been unwell recently there's definitely a lot around and I now have yet another cold - oh well.

Despite that I'm back for 2023 and ready to get started.

I'm so looking forward to meeting more people this year and growing my business. I'll also be sharing my knowledge on here so that it can help you all.

Don't worry though it won't be all value based as I'll still be posting the fun stuff too (particularly memes - love a good meme)

I'm working on something exciting right now which I can't wait to share with you so watch this space.

And have a fabulous 2023 - let me know what goals you've set for this year.

When the client vision and budget aren't in alignment 😩

The other day, I saw a post by the owner of a marketing agency moaning about finding a reliable copywriter.

She'd been let down by the ones she had hired as they either hadn't delivered or hadn't provided work to the standard she expected.

She was looking for another 'mid weight' copywriter but as part of her ad she reminded anyone potentially interested to be mindful that clients had 'fixed budgets'.

Hmm well copywriters also have bills - I'm not sure what she was planning to pay but by the sound of it, it wasn't much hence the problems she was having.

Remember that saying, "pay peanuts, get monkeys"?

It's very true.

Have you ever come across this?
