The Folk Club is a worldwide eclectic folk show on Folk Music Notebook, Folk Friday Radio, West Norfolk Radio and Mixcloud, curated, produced and presented by Stuart Green. It first started in September 2020 when host, Stuart Green, was asked if he would like his own show. Entertainer Stuart, who is also a founder member of the band Isle ‘ave a Shanty jumped at the chance and hasn’t looked back si

nce . In the short time on air, this local show has quickly gathered a global audience right across the folk world. Stuart plays traditional and contemporary folk, roots and acoustic music on the show and draws upon a range of sources. The Featured Artist

In each show Stuart chooses a featured artist and has had a huge number of high-profile performers willing to take part, including folk royalty such as Show of Hands, Jon Boden, The Young’Uns, Gerry Colvin, Damien Barber and many more. Featured artists introduce and tell some of the stories behind their songs that they then share and Stuart constructs the show around them. Here We Are

This section of the show is very close to Stuart’s heart as he believes that everyone should have a chance to be heard. He recognises that there are thousands of musicians out there – up and coming as well as established artists – who don’t always get the opportunities to be heard so he set up this section of the show and invited artists, through social media, to make contact and share their music. He has had an overwhelming response and plays approximately three tracks each week. Some performers in this section have gone on to become Featured Artists too! The Folk Club Challenge

A regular feature of the show is the ‘Folk Club Challenge’. Voluntary performers are given a challenge, by Stuart, to rearrange and record a song of his choice and then when its ready, he plays it on the show. The Rest of The Show

The rest of the show gives Stuart the opportunity to play some of his favourite tracks from artists from across the UK and the rest of the world. It features news from the folk world, your requests and a great mix of folk, roots and acoustic music.

This week's Featured Artists (Show 272) are Elizabeth & Jameson

Hannah Elizabeth and Griff Jameson first met whilst touring and performing in other acts on the UK acoustic folk-roots scene, eventually partnering to release material for the first time as a duo in 2016. Merging their individual backgrounds of traditional folk and folk pop/rock, they have created a stunning acoustic folk-roots duo, with original songs rich in emotive storytelling and a harmony-driven sound featuring guitar, violin and exquisite vocals.
They have just released their new album ‘Way Out West’ and we chat on the show all about it before they share three tracks from it.

Plus, this week’s ‘Here We Are’ artists, Robin Adams, The Folkie Brummie and Chris Cleverley

Earlier this year, I headed for the USA on a bucket list trip - Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. Inspired by watching BBC TV’s Rob Brydon’s H***y Tonk Road Trip last week, where he interviews Mark Edgar Stewart at Sun Studio (I also interviewed Mark in that same week), I thought I’d repost my US Road Trip Special Show once again. I was humbled to make this show - and again thank all the wonderful people who came on, chatted, played and contributed and made it special.

I’m delighted to say that in March 2026, I’m heading back to Nashville once again - to make a Nashville Special Folk Club Show.

Watch this space y’all 🤠

This week's show (239) is a rather special one. In March 2025 I ventured on a US Road Trip to Nashville, Memphis and New Orleans. On that adventure, I collected, interviewed and recorded live, so many musicians, radio footage, chats, commentaries etc Here it all on my road trip special

This week's Featured Artists (Show 271) are Kyson Point

Kyson Point is UK husband and wife duo Kelly and David Booth. Both critically-acclaimed artists in their own right, they now bring their individual song-writing and performance skills together in one heart-felt place. Built on a foundation of David’s evocative acoustic guitar and Kelly’s lyrical piano, the couple craft contemporary folk music inspired by stories and moods found all around us in the natural world alongside timeless reflections on what it is to be human. Their writing is gently shaped by the sounds of classic Laurel Canyon, traditional folk songs, the wide open Suffolk skies and waters where they live and the rugged Pennine hills of David's upbringing. They have just released their debut album ‘ Underwater Sky’ and they join me on the show to introduce three tracks from it.

Plus I also chat with Chloe & Aimee aka True Foxes in Bury St Edmunds and not forgetting this week’s ‘Here We Are’ artists, Northern Passage, Unsetl, the Two Man Travelling Medicine Show.
