So, Scenes of Agony, the new album by Black Talon, was released while I was down in England, and I'm very glad to see that it's been getting some much-deserved attention!

The guys are all phenomenal musicians and match my own obsessive mindset when it comes to getting every last detail right, so this was a real pleasure to work on!

I got into metal through thrash as a teenager, so it's a style that will always hold a special place in my heart, even if the bulk of what I listen to is black and death metal these days. If your taste in thrash is anything like mine, then I think you will love this album.

The first preview track from the debut Vintras album is now available to listen to via NO CLEAN SINGING! I handled the vocal recording, as well as the mix and master on this one.

In March Void Wanderer Productions and War Productions will release the debut album of the UK post-black metal band Vintras. The BOSS MT-2 has quite a polarising reputation, but it is very usable if you run it into the return of an amp- which is how it was intended to be used. More gnarly diode clipping and less jar of bees. It's currently being put to good use as I reamp guitars for the KILLER upcoming Belliciste album. Full chain: MZ into Diezel Guitar Amps Herbert into vintage Marshall 1960 w/ G12-65 speakers recorded with a single sm57 mic into Neve 1073.

Check out the new Port Rats EP! It's on bandcamp and you can name your price for it too. One for Misfits fans, down to the inspiration for the artwork ;) I played session guitar on this one, as well as handling the whole production. I have to say that I really like the snare sound that we got on this recording.

HM, the mastermind behind Kildonan has been a close friend of mine for many years, so I was deeply honored when he contacted me about helping him realize their debut album.

The subject matter of the album is centered around a rather dark and somewhat overlooked chapter in Scottish history: The Highland Clearances that occurred in the 18th and 19th centuries. For those unaware, this was a process of large-scale eviction of agricultural tenants in the Highlands and Islands, which resulted in mass homelessness and starvation in order to increase profits for landowners.

HM's family was directly affected by this, and as such, it's no surprise that 'Embers' is a deeply personal and heartfelt work, equal parts epic and harrowing. There are two singles available to listen to on the Caligari Records YouTube channel. Here is 'To Gaze upon the Infinite,' the epic album closer.

Kildonan is the latest work on the prolific Hamish MacKintosh, drummer for such bands as Ageless Summoning, Belliciste, Sluagh, and Úir among others. However...

Barshasketh announce their new album today! It's set for release on Jan 9th, through World Terror Committee. I handled all the tracking on this one. Guitar, bass and vocals were all done here at Sonorous Studio, and I went over to Sweden to track the drums at NBS Production - Necromorbus Studio, which is where the mix and master were handled by Tore Stjerna. I'll leave a link to the first preview track from the album in the comments.
