Adanna’s love for dogs and kids is next level—I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve had to stop her from petting strangers’ dogs. On walks (without her stroller), she runs straight to any kid she sees for cuddles. Lol. Some might take it as a ā€œsignā€ that she needs a sibling, but I’m staying on contraceptives until I decide otherwise—if I do.😜

As sweet as she is, sleep is not her thing. We’ve tried everything, but she’s too curious to miss out on life. Now, imagine being pregnant and dealing with that! Her dad and I take shifts, but let’s be honest—moms do more, especially when breastfeeding.

Speaking of which, Adanna completely rejected the bottle and only drinks breast milk (ditched bottles at 9 months, pacifiers at 3). So, you can imagine what my b***s have been through! šŸ˜‚

We’re now weaning her (even though I planned to breastfeed till 2), and it’s been 16 days of struggle. I even rubbed aloe vera on myself to deter her—she’s still not sleeping through the night, but maybe she just needs more time.

I know someone who stopped at one kid because of sleep struggles, and I don’t blame them. My first trimester was rough—constant nausea and exhaustion. So, until we get Adanna’s sleep sorted… no, thanks!😃

Any advice on how to get her to sleep more would be appreciated ā¤ļø

I experienced culture shock when I realized that Oyibo people rarely buy food in bulk—a great way to avoid pest problems. Back home, we always bought in bulk because it was cheaper and saved us the hassle of frequent trips to the market. For example, we’d typically buy 50kg of rice, whereas here, we buy just 1kg, which can last for at least 10 dinners for a family of three.

I used to get annoyed when my husband did the shopping and didn’t buy in bulk; I thought he was just being stingy 🤣. But now, living just a two-minute walk from supermarkets and never having pest issues, I don’t mind as long as there’s always food in the house. Plus, the prices here aren’t significantly different whether you buy in bulk or in smaller quantities.

Another culture shock was how drinks are rationed here. I remember the first time I visited an Oyibo friend—they bought Maltina just to make me feel at home. To my surprise, they poured a small amount into a cup and put the rest in the fridge 😳. In my mind, I was like, a whole me? One small cup of Maltina, when back home I would have an entire bottle to myself, and even more if I wanted.

I had a similar experience with my husband when we first met. He’d do the same with Coke and fruit juices—pouring just a little at a time šŸ¤¦šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø. But over time, I’ve come to realize that it’s just long throat making us back home finish a whole orobo bottle in one sitting. These smaller portions here are actually healthier!
