🌈✨PRIDE MONTH EXCLUSIVE INTERVIEWS🌈✨

As June is Pride Month, we really wanted to mark the occasion - especially as it coincided with our final month as editors. So, Zac reached out to two inspirational LGBTQ+ individuals and asked them if they'd be happy to be interviewed for a Pride Month Feature. Below are the results!

Zac interviewed Matthew Todd, an editor of Attitude in 2008-2016, and Dr. Fraser Riddell, a current Durham University lecturer.

'Breaking into Journalism - Interview with Ron Walker' - 15th June, 7.30pm onward

In this second Zoom Q&A for June, The Mound will be putting your questions to Ron Walker. Ron edited The Mound back in 2011-2012. Now he is a Sky Sports digital football journalist, and a piece he wrote was shortlisted for an award in 2019.

We're excited to announce the launch of our Creative Competition, in association with Butler's Artist-in-residence Jodie Russian-Red!

Whether you choose spoken word, painting, creative writing, photography or audio format this competition is for you!

We have a long submission period due to exams, so you have plenty of time to submit your works before the 16th June. All entrants will be invited to exhibit/perform their works at our online Showcase; winners will also be published in our Easter edition of The Mound Magazine, and some more exciting prizes are in the works so stay tuned!

Celebrating Persian New Year with Butler College X The Mound, we are launching the spring poetry competition! ❤️💛 The details can be found attached below!

THEME REVEAL: Warmth and Water

What springs to mind when you hear those words...?
-Poems can be as short as you like and up to 600 words
-ANYONE from Butler can enter
-Deadline is 27/03
-you may enter multiple pieces
-you may work as a group, in pairs, or solo to create your poetic masterpiece
-you may present them on paper how you like, and provide a recording. But please ensure you submit a written copy too.
