Having suffered with Bipolar for as long as I can remember, I didn't get my official diagnosis of 'Bipolar Affective Disorder' until I was admitted into a mental health hospital last year, where I spent three and a half weeks- which was the bravest yet scariest decision I have made to date. Having tried to take my own life and using self harm as a coping mechanism, I understand how the mind can ta
ke you to dark places and the struggle it is to get 'through one more day' for the sake of yourself but also for the sake of your loved ones around you. As you may know due to lack of funding in the healthcare system, and ratio of healthcare professionals to mental health sufferers, there is a very long wait to getting appropriate help and the correct diagnosis, and for me, it always seemed like my life was 'racing against the clock' and the scary worry for my family and friends of 'will she get the right help in time?'. This is one of the main reasons as to why I ahave created this support and awareness page, whilst also fundraising for the charity foundation 'Bipolar UK'. Let's support one another and help stop and STAMP THE MENTAL HEALTH STIGMA!
