The new Labour Government will be introducing a set of some 30 bills for the 2024-2025 Parliament Session, including:
1. New workers' rights;
2. Railways renationalisation plan;
3. Powers devolution to Mayors and Local Authorities;
4. Housing, and possibly the repeal of current Section 21 in the Tenancy Law;
5. Electoral Law to make voter registration automatic and lowered to 16-year-olds;
6. Energy bill, to include the launch of UK British Energy a new nationalised supplier;
7. Relaunch of NET ZERO Energy investment in onshore and offshore wind and solar;
8. National Plan to expand solar to many more households across the UK;
9. House of Lords reform bill; to include a review of past Tory Peer nominations abuses
There are many more initiatives, which are expected to turn 14 years of Tory train-crash governance on its head and begin healing the Country. For example, a review of the relations between the UK and the EU, seeking to amend Tory errors and heal the hostility damage left behind by the Tories, and introduction of Equal pay for ethnic minorities and vulnerable workers. Additionally, the Labour Government is expected to announce the new Martyn's Law (to fix the errors made during the terror attack in Manchester) and the new Hillsborough Law, to fix the mistakes committed over several decades, following the infamous Hillsborough disaster.
For those of a firm Left-Wing persuasion, arguably, a Corbyn-led government would have been better. But looking back at the last 14 years of Tory rule, the new Labour Government, however moderate, remains a breadth of fresh air.
