2024 sees The Puppini Sisters celebrate 20 years together.
Founded in 2004 by Marcella Puppini, the band pioneered the neo burlesque/swing scene with their immaculate close harmonies and went on to worldwide success releasing 6 albums, the first of which became the fastest selling jazz album of all time and gathering a multitude of fans around the globe including Michael Bublè and HM King Charles!
Marcella Puppini says “I can’t believe it’s been twenty years – time does fly when you’re having fun and it’s definitely been fun! We love to play dress up, sing old songs with a new spin or new songs with an old spin. Swing is infectious and cool, with its intricate syncopated rhythms and its echoes of fabulous dance parties. Harmony singing, in my opinion, resonates deeply with everybody – it’s as if it speaks directly to the soul.”
To mark this 20th Anniversary The Puppini Sisters will embark on a tour that looks back over their career by performing their hits, fan favourites and a few surprises, in preparation for a brand-new album to be released in 2025.

Residents in Central Bedfordshire are being invited to have their say on the Council’s Domestic Abuse Strategy.
The Council’s current domestic abuse strategy was launched in 2022 and runs up to 2025. It outlines five key area of focus to tackle domestic abuse and provide support for people affected by it, as well as how this would be achieved.
The new domestic abuse strategy is for the next five years, from 2025 to 2030, and the council is seeking input from the public to help shape it.
As part of the 6-week consultation, residents are being asked whether the actions in the previous strategy have been effective in tackling domestic abuse and supporting victims, and whether they should be carried forward into the new strategy. The Council is also keen to hear from anyone affected by domestic abuse who has suggestions for improvements or additions that will ensure its services meet the needs of those affected.
Anyone can be affected by domestic abuse; statistics show that one in four women and one in six men will experience domestic abuse at some point in their lives, which amounts to over 2 million adults in total.
Cllr Steve Owen, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “We want to hear from as many people as possible about our domestic abuse strategy, especially those who have been directly affected and their friends and family.
“Domestic abuse can affect anyone and can take many different forms. It can have a severe and lasting impact on survivors and their families, and that’s why the public’s feedback is so important to help us create a strategy that truly supports those affected by domestic abuse.”
The consultation launched on Monday 14 October 2024 and will close on Monday 25 November 2024. The consultation document and the consultation questionnaire are available online at www.centralbedfordshire.gov.uk/consultations.

Free music open days this October with Inspiring Music
Inspiring Music is hosting a series of free open days this October, inviting young people to explore the world of music at its three music hubs in Ampthill, Biggleswade, and Leighton Buzzard.
The open days are running on Saturday 12 October from 9.30am and are designed to encourage children over 6 years old to try out a variety of instruments, with some sessions also open to older children and adults who already play an instrument.
Sessions include beginner ukulele, steel pans for beginners, ‘musical superstars’ for complete beginners, teaching people how to play as part of an ensemble, a folk group session and Inspiring Singers, to help people develop their singing voices.
Learners will be supported with expert guidance from Inspiring Music’s team of talented music tutors.
Cllr Steve Owen, Executive Member for Children’s Services, said: “Learning to play music is a vital skill for young people, offering not only a creative outlet but also boosting confidence, teamwork, and discipline. Music has the power to inspire, and these open days are the perfect opportunity for young people to experience that first-hand.”
Booking is required, but the sessions are free. To book, visit the link for the location you'd like to attend:

In a nutshell (or perhaps a beehive) Bee Local Magazine is community magazine and directory for Leighton Buzzard and 14 surrounding Beds and Bucks villages.
It is put together and owned by me, (Andrena) I am a local lady and I have lived around here forever! My plan has always been to make a magazine that I would like to read. I try and fill it with interesting news, events, articles and puzzles and in turn my advertisers get seen by the readers and it helps local businesses get known and be successful.
Bee Local Magazine is delivered to 18,000 homes in the area and it also goes onto the checkouts at Morrisons plus soon to be available in Bassett Road surgery too.
If you would like to speak to me about advertising or your news and events please call on 01525 222473 /mob: 0797 155 4604. email [email protected] or simply message through facebook
