In France, the Catholic holiday of Candlemas is on the 2nd February and it is called La Chandeleur the Feast of Candles. In the past people used to light candles to celebrate. Even today, people light candles in rooms around their homes to spread good luck.
But today people eat pancakes as well!

C'est Français! was the very first French book we published, back in 2001.

It's hard to believe, but the first edition had a cassette tape. At the time, teachers told us that they didn't have CD players! Now we are selling off our stock with CDs, before bringing out a new edition with free digital downloads.

Although the book is now 23 years old (where did the time go?), we still feel that there are lots of great ideas in it – especially for people running French after-school clubs.

Why do we have two versions of French Festivals and Traditions? The background information about the festivals is the same in both books, but the activities and worksheets differ.

All the worksheets in the KS3 book have a research activity to encourage independent learning. We love this fantastic 5* review for 'French Pen Pals Made Easy':

Does exactly what it says on the tin!
I bought this book on (the) recommendation of a colleague at another school. I was starting a letter exchange project with a school in France with primary school children (who do have knowledge of French but not specifically of writing letters) and it has made the job very easy for me. Each letter is a fill in the blanks with French and English on the next page. Perfect!

There's a spider in my bathtub!

One of the great new features of the 2nd edition of '21 Fun Songs to Teach French Phonics' is that the videos are now available both with and without captions. Here's a little snippet for you from the video for 'Une arignée dans ma baignoire' so you can see how useful it is to have the captions. I hope I don't have 'une araignée' (a spider) in my bathtub when I get home! Even if it is 'mignon' (cute)!

Children are engaged and enthusiastic when using songs and actions to learn French. This video clip is from the song Lulu la tortue, one of the specially written songs in 21 Fun Songs to Teach French Phonics. This song teaches the sound 'u' and its pronunciation in various words.
