An amazing place to DJ ❤️

New year, new gig? 🤔 We’re looking for newbies who fancy a wee Friday night DJ gig in the pub - could be a one-off, an occasional outing, or someone to add to our existing roster of DJs/selectors for 2024!! ⚡️

🎵 We don’t want anything too heavy (it’s a pub, not a club) and we don’t do mainstream/middle-of-the-road (yawn!) - - we want music-lovers with a good ear and a great music collection to bring a fresh and uplifting vibe to a Friday night in the Dougie! 😎

🫶 We’re happy to support you to get comfortable with the tech, and you don’t have to turn up ready to play a 5hr set if you’re just getting started or getting back to DJing after a break - we can offer you a shorter slot or practice sessions or even a few lessons if you need them - just message us to start a chat and we’ll take things from there! 😊

I want to ensure my new podcast is the best it can be. That’s why I’ve decided to take time and launch it properly. It will be my 2024 project and I look forward to sharing it with you!

We have loooads of great pubs in Dumfries - places to go if you want to see live music or watch sports or try craft beer or sip cocktails or sing karaoke - there’s something for everyone!! ❤️

And we have our own thing going on in the Dougie - we don’t know any other way to do it - and we like our wee alternative vibe and the tribe we attract... We get to go to work and hang out with like-minded souls and hear great DJs playing great records - we definitely don’t take ourselves too seriously, but we do really care about what we do! 😊

It’s OK if it’s not your thing - we get it - but asking us why we don’t have bingo or karaoke or football on the telly is like walking into an Italian restaurant and asking why you can’t get chicken chow mein… You’re in the wrong restaurant! 🍕🥢

Yes, give us a try - but if you don’t like it, it’s OK to go somewhere else… It’s not OK to cause aggro and ruin other people’s night out because you don’t like house music or dancing or drag queens or something else we love here at the Dougie.

“Vive la différence!” - celebrate diversity and difference - and don’t be a dick! 😉

31 years ago, we lost the disco pioneer who redefined the art of DJing. For a decade, Levan's electrifying sets at Paradise Garage shaped the club scene, blending disco, dub, and synth-pop to pave the way for the House music revolution.

His mastery behind the decks and emotional connection to the music still resonates to this day. Just imagine being in the Garage, feeling the magic of an era that moulded a movement in music history. Rest in power, Larry ❤️

Tomorrow night will be the last Stevie Jay In The House on DCR Online. It’s going to be a show of my absolute favourite house, disco and dance anthems so we are going out with a bang.

Thank you to all my listeners over the past 2 years of the show. It’s been a blast. Thank you so much to Fiona Jones and the whole of DCR for the opportunity to bring you Stevie Jay In The House. I’ll miss the show terribly 😟

Dumfries Community Radio, known locally as DCR Online and located in purpose-built studios in the beautiful grounds of The Crichton, are taking off their headphones and laying them to rest on what will be their fifth anniversary on 26th October.

For five years, volunteers at the radio station have produced specialist music and talk shows, interviewed hundreds of artists, musicians, entertainers and other people of interest, hosted charity events and promoted worthy causes for the community.

However, due to increasing financial costs and difficulty finding sponsors and funding, DCR is no longer sustainable as a charity and will cease broadcasting from the end of the month.

Founder and Station Manager Fiona Jones says, " I am devastated that it has come to this. With our trusty team of volunteers, we have worked hard to create a truly amazing radio station, and our presenters have produced some outstanding, award-winning shows. I wish all our presenters the best, and I hope they get snapped up by another radio station".

The station will continue to stream live shows online until Thursday, 26th October; after that, shows will be available to listen to on Mixcloud only.

We thank our listeners, sponsors, funders and the community for their support and loyalty. We have loved every minute of creating content for you. Thank you, and good night.

🎺 Music is a MASSIVE part of our lives, our business and our happiness, and we always do our absolute best to bring you the most exciting and talented DJs and performers every week!! 👌

☺️ We’re proud to pay a decent fee to all our DJs and musicians, and we contribute around £12,000 to the local creative economy every year in direct payments to performers… which isn’t bad for a wee pub in Dumfries! 💪

💜 Our latest investment has been the installation of an absolutely outstanding soundsystem from the legendary Funktion-One (Official), so you can listen to the music you love in superb quality! 🥰
