Using my Fallen Stars Tsuki from - I think I might be able to squeeze August in before it’s time to find a new one!

The Soot Sprites (すすワタリ, Susuwatari, lit. "Travelling Soot" a.k.a. "Mak-kuro Kurosuke") are spirits that appear in the films My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away. They are small, round balls made from the soot that dwells in old and abandoned houses and leave black dirt in their wake. If the house becomes inhabited, they decide if the inhabitants are nice people. If they are, they will leave.

One can feed Soot Sprites like how a farmer feeds chickens, throwing handfuls of Kompeitō (a hard Japanese candy) from a bucket onto the ground for them to pick up and eat.

Late Letters In My Style Day 6! Yesterday was a chaos day, and in line with the prompt, I figured why not share my planning instead?!

Using my favourite MONO Graph Mechanical Pencil (0.5 Lavender) that was gifted from in a lovely dot grid notebook that I received during my term as a creator for them! Incidentally, UtRT are currently looking for the next round of creatives for their box sub, so be sure to check that out if you’re also obsessed with stationery 💖

Day 7 of Journal In My Style - Summer Bucket List! 🌞

I *never* get more than one or two things ticket off of my seasonal bucket lists! And that then eventually leads to feeling sad and guilty!

To combat that I’m using sticky notes instead, so that I can swap them out, changing my goals or adding in new ideas!

Obviously the maximalist in me broke free 😂 I’ll tag away, and the gifted items are:

catch up for day 5 - My Animal Crossing New Horizons museum art tracker 🦉

True to form, even though I already have all of the content ready to go, I missed yesterday’s post. I’m trying to embrace the idea that it’s okay to be honest about my struggles. Not to hide, and say “I’m Fine” when in reality, I’m not.

Flare ups suck, “spoons” diminish, medication for breakthrough pain comes with it’s own complications. Yet I’m here, and whilst I’m not okay, I know that everything *will* be okay.

Yet again with the gifted journal, and my favourite Mini Dual Tip Felt Pens & pen…. Are you noticing a theme 😂

➼ ☾ tsuki – 月 (つき) : a noun meaning ‘the moon’ in Japanese. When this follows a numeral, it can work as a month counter with adding the meaning of ‘month’ or ‘months’.

For day 4, Weekly Spread I had to go back in time! Since last summer, I’ve been sticking to more simple month-to-view spreads. I love daily journaling, but the circumstances meant I needed just the essential information.

I picked a few spreads that haven’t already been shared, plus some from last July - a theme for a gift - as I was particularly happy with how it turned out!

I wanted to make a 3D Audrey II for Halloween, but catching Covid derailed my plans 😭 so this babe will have to do 🖤

I’m still suffering from Covid side effects, to the extent that even though my isolation should end at midnight, I’ve been advised to get another PCR 😓 so keep your fingers crossed for me 🤞🏻

I’ve always been obsessed with Hedy Lamarr’s dress in Ziegfeld Girl, and seeing it everywhere this week inspired me to give portraiture another try!

I’ve been drawing a lot of people lately, mostly very stylised babes, for Spooky Season. It’s out of my comfort zone, but this more “realistic” style is terrifying 😂 I ended up really loving it, as opposed to being overly critical and focusing on the bad bits!
