We are excited to announce that due to further funding, we will be hiding more wonderful Usborne books around Doncaster throughout the school holidays from Summer 22 onwards

Following the success of our Book Treasure Hunts in 2022 (with over 500 books hidden around Doncaster!) we are now making plans for more book hunts to be carried out in 2023…but we need more book sponsors!

You can sponsor 1 book for £1, a special book for £5 (board book for babies / toddlers / longer chapter book for older children / young adult fiction book for teenagers), or if you wanted to sponsor more books, you can sponsor 30 books for £25.

For your sponsorship, you would receive a book plate in each of the books you sponsor advertising your sponsorship / business. Your books would go into many households, and it would be some lovely advertising for you. Your sponsorship and business would also be promoted in the dedicated Facebook group.

The Treasure Hunt is not for profit, and all of the books we supply are at cost, made up and hidden in our own time.

If you would like to sponsor a book, please either comment below or send us a private message to discuss this further.

Alternatively, it would be absolutely fantastic if you could tag a local business who may be interested, or share our post so that it can be seen by others ❤️

It would be amazing if we could match our total from last year 🤞🏻

We wanted to take this opportunity to say a big thanks to everyone for supporting our book treasure hunt this year.

We’ve done a quick calculation, and we’ve hidden a whopping 572 books since World Book Day in March 2022!!!

If you go down to the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise! Not only are todays books hidden in the woods, there’s also a story trail and free books from the amazing Doncaster Stories too! We thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the story trail, and would recommend it if you are looking at something to do over the next few days!

We’re off out for a family tea tonight, so we’ve dropped some Christmas books into the book basket at Lakeside Shopping Centre.

We have to say that the centre looks absolutely fantastic, and our little bookworms enjoyed seeing the lights and decorations ❤️

We are very excited to announce that the Doncaster Book Treasure Hunt has been granted Children's University Learning Provider Status.

Children with a Children's University Passport will be able to obtain their stamp codes when they find, read and re-hide books as part of the book treasure hunt.

We felt disheartened today that we had these 50 Halloween themed books ready to be hidden as part of our book treasure hunt which hasn’t gone ahead 😢

So…we decided to donate them to 2 local places to distribute to children at their upcoming events.

The 2 lucky places were Sandall Park Junior Rangers and Wheatley Family Hub. We hope that the children all like their books 💗

Sorry we haven’t posted an update until now. Sadly following our post earlier in the week about not being able to hold our planned treasure hunt this half term - we had to make the heartbreaking decision to have our beautiful 9 year old dog Luna put to sleep.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for the kind messages and comments which we received.

Our Halloween book treasure hunt will be coming soon 🙌

Our children break up from school this Friday for 2 weeks - returning on Monday 31st, but we are aware that not all schools in Doncaster follow the same holiday pattern.

To help us plan where and when we hide the books, please can you comment which area you live (ie Intake) and when your children break up from school.

Well, the moment has arrived to announce the winner of the £5 book for posting a picture of a found book on our wall.

We apologise as we haven’t done this live, however we’ve had a few technical issues so we’ve had to take a screenshot instead 🤦‍♀️

We’ve had a few private messages over the weekend from book finders who are having difficulties posting to the page, but would like to enter the competition to win a £5 book of their choice.

It has been asked if we could screenshot a picture of any messages sent to count towards the competition.

We are happy to do this, so if you would like to send any photos of books you have found over the last few weeks - we will then screenshot and post these to the page before the competition closes.

Please remember that an additional entry to the competition will be given for photos of books re-hidden!.

The competition closes, and will be drawn on Sunday 4th September 2022.

All we can say is WOW! We’ve had an absolutely amazing Summer hiding books and making memories exploring 21 fantastic (and FREE locations) across Doncaster!

We’ve hidden a massive 257 fiction and activity books in total, and we hope that you have all enjoyed finding and taking them home to enjoy too!

We are aware that the school holidays for some are still on for another week or so, so we won’t draw our competition for the photos shared on our page until next weekend! (So there’s still a little time to share a photo to this page if you haven’t done so already!).

We’ve already begun to make plans for October half term with some spooky finds, but until then please keep re-hiding the fiction books when you have read them and remember to post a photo to our page so that others know where to find them!

Well, we’ve had a fab morning with friends today - joining in with a fab sports activity session with Joe Halstead Sports Coaching Warmsworth Holiday Camps and then hiding the last of our Summer Treasure Hunt books around the park afterwards.

There’s 11 of our amazing Usborne books and activity packs hidden around Warmsworth Flower park for you to find today 😃 We also saw some rocks from the lovely page Warmsworth Rocks (although we can’t tag them for some reason), and there’s some in the park for you to find too 🪨 Happy hunting!
