The Mill Recording Studio 1997-2022
After a lot of thought I have decided to close the studio. It has been an amazing 25 years; a period of time doing what I always wanted to do, never doubting that I was where I should be. I am truly fortunate to have had this time and I am so grateful to everyone who has been to the studio.
I’d like to thank my dearly departed mum and dad for putting up with the noise from the bottom of the garden and the comings and goings of an ever changing line up of musicians. More generous parents I couldn’t have wished for.
Laura Cole Matthews for supporting me in this work and understanding my time commitments on those long sessions. At least I was always home on time! 😄
Thanks to Tom Joy, Adam King Leaone Productions , David Pye, Jon Baker & Sebastian Rogers . Fantastic engineers and producers who have also worked from the studio over the years. The work they’ve produced has in turn inspired me to be a better engineer.
I should give a shout out to my old band buddies Jon Griffin, Marco Notley and Herb Sprong, as The Mill Studio began as our rehearsal room. Once I started recording our demos, I found out that I loved it and couldn’t stop!
Endless thanks to all the bands, musicians, singers and artists who have been “through The Mill” over the years. I’ve been fortunate to work on an incredibly wide range of music over 1000’s of sessions, which was something I hoped to be able to do and the quality and dedication of these musicians has been an inspiration. It’s been my honour to provide the vinyl, cassettes, CDs, downloads and streams, which I hope have brought you and your fanbase great pleasure.
I remain as fascinated by music production as ever and will be continuing to teach on the Audio Production Degree at Access Creative College. In time I hope to pop up in some other production roles & guises.
It’s probably time to delve into that old box of photos so I’ll be posting some up for a bit of a reminisce and a laugh. In the meantime thanks once again, much love and good vibes to you all.
